ORLANDO,
Fla. - Weather washed out the final
three innings of the weekend series between UCF and Presbyterian College with
the Knights taking the deciding game, 10-2.
The hosts went for nine runs in the second to take the sweep and improve
to 13-8 while PC falls to 5-13 on the season.
After both teams went quietly through
the first inning and a half, UCF produced nine runs off seven hits and a PC
error to take a commanding lead.
Starting pitcher Jordan Pace made it through two-thirds of the second frame
before being lifted for Chris Powell.
The Blue Hose bit back in the fourth
when Tony Micklon's single to left field scored a hard charging Nate Horton
from second base. The hit was PC's first
of the day and one of four for the game for the visitors. Leadoff hitter Jesse Harmon got two hits
while Gabe Grammer recorded the fourth.
UCF made it 10-1 in the fifth with a
single run before Harmon hit his second bomb of the season over the left field
fence to cut the lead to 10-2.
Rain began to fall and the game was
called after six innings.
Jordan Pace was assessed with the loss
to fall to 1-2 while UCF's Joe Rogers improved to 3-0 with the victory on the
bump.
The Blue Hose will play a pair of
midweek games this week, hosting Furman on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. and traveling
to Wofford on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
