CLINTON, S.C. - Presbyterian College outfielder Tony Micklon (Sumter, S.C.) was named as a starter to the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game for his strong summer performance so far for the Florence (S.C.) Red Wolves, the league announced today.
PC teammate Brad Zebedis (Rock Hill, S.C.) also took the Home Run Derby crown for the Valley Baseball League in a Mid-Atlantic Classic showdown against the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League on Monday night.
Micklon ranks fourth in the Coastal Plain League in runs batted in, with 28, and he leads Florence in RBI, runs (23), hits (34), doubles (eight), home runs (four) and total bases (54). The junior will start for the American League in the CPL All-Star Game on Monday, July 18 in Fayetteville, N.C.
Micklon joins Zebedis and
Chandler Knox (Columbia, S.C.) as Blue Hose summer league all-stars. Zebedis played in the Valley Baseball League All-Star Game while Knox competed in the New York Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game.
Zebedis took part in the Mid-Atlantic Classic on Monday night as the VBL faced off against the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League in Harrisonburg, Va. Prior to a game between the two sides, Zebedis won a Home Run Derby by edging Mike Mandarino from Southern Maryland.
