CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (1-8) heads to Davidson, N.C. this weekend for a pair of games against Ohio on Saturday and Sunday before taking on the host school later on Sunday.
The Blue Hose will look to build off of an 8-5 comeback win against Wofford on Wednesday, their first of the season. Tony Micklon's (Sumter, S.C.) .344 average and eight RBI lead the team so far. PC has also received key contributions from freshman Jay Lizancch (Greer, S.C.) and his seven hits so far, a total that ties him with Andrew Williams (Augusta, Ga.) for second on the team.
PC will likely start sophomore Bud Jeter (Columbia, S.C.) and Chandler Knox (Columbia, S.C) against Ohio before handing the ball to Chad Sanders (St. Simons Island, Ga.) against Davidson on Sunday. All three pitchers will aim for their first wins of the season.
PC will face the Bobcats (1-6) on Saturday at 12 p.m. and again on Sunday at 10 a.m. Ohio dropped a Friday night contest to Davidson, 4-1, marking the squad's fifth straight loss. Ohio's lone win came against UNC Wilmington in the second game of its season-opening series on February 18.
Seth Streich leads the team at the plate with a .429 average. Brent Choban (0-1, 2.25 ERA) will face the Blue Hose on Saturday and Nick Plys (First appearance) will take the mount on Sunday.
The Blue Hose take on Davidson on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Wildcats moved to 4-2 on Friday night after toppling Ohio and have collected wins against four different opponents over the young season. Andrew Barna paces the team at the plate with a .333 batting average, while also driving in four RBI.
Davidson will start Danny Mooney against PC on Sunday. Mooney has a 1-0 record after a five-inning start in which the Wildcat allowed three runs (one earned) on seven hits.
