AUBURN, Ala. - The Presbyterian College baseball team dropped an out-of-conference contest on Tuesday night, falling to Auburn by a 18-2 margin.
PC moves to 20-28 on the year while Auburn improves to 26-22.
The Tigers posted eight runs in the sixth inning and four in the fourth to help take the win.
Kenny Bryant (Goose Creek, S.C.) drove in a run on a single through the right side in the first inning as PC drew first blood. The play gave the senior his 31st RBI this season, a team-high. Andrew Williams (Goose Creek, S.C.) also hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth.
Matt Peden (Fountain Inn, S.C.) picked up two hits in the effort as well.
Auburn's Ryan Tella went 5-for-6 with a pair of RBI. Cory Luckie earned the win, going five and one-third innings and allowing one run.
Gabe Grammer (Irmo, S.C.) took the loss for PC. Michael Ricchi (McKinney, Texas) and Stewart Curry (Rock Hill, S.C.) each threw a scoreless inning in relief.
PC posted 10 hits on the day, nine coming from different Blue Hose.
The Blue Hose struck first on Bryant's RBI single for a quick lead, but two runs from Auburn in both the first and second gave the Tigers the advantage.
After Auburn extended its lead in the middle innings, the Tigers tacked on two more in the eighth.
The Blue Hose offense tagged the Tigers for a run in the ninth. Aaron Preston (Goose Creek, S.C.) led off with a single and moved to third via groundout and John Wagner (Olney, Md.) single. Williams then brought the outfielder home on a sacrifice fly to right. A Cam McRae (Darlington, S.C.) double put runners on second and third, but a groundout brought the game to an end.
PC returns home this weekend for its final series at the PC Baseball Complex this season. The Blue Hose host Gardner-Webb in a three-game set that begins at 3 p.m. on Friday.
