CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team dropped a Saturday Big South Conference contest to the visiting Campbell Camels at the PC Baseball Complex, 14-3.
PC moves to 18-14 overall and 5-3 in the Big South while Campbell improves to 27-5 on the year and 8-3 in the Big South. The two sides wrap up the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Clinton.
Cam McRae (Darlington, S.C.) went 3-for-3 to lead the Blue Hose. Brandon Paul (Augusta, Ga.) and Ryan Hagan (Sugar Hill, Ga.) each chipped in two hits as well.
The Camels scored five runs in the third inning and four runs in the seventh to take the win.
Chandler Knox (Columbia, S.C.) took the loss after 4.1 innings of work to move to 2-3 on the year.
Jacob Midkiff (Rock Hill, S.C.) delivered his first collegiate hit in the game, smacking his first pitch through the right side to drive in McRae from third and give the home side a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Midkiff started at second base for the second straight game.
The Camels responded with five runs in the top of the third to take the lead. Two of the runs came on a home run from David Olson, who finished the game at 4-for-5 and three RBI.
Campbell added two runs in the fifth, three in the sixth and four in the seventh for all 14 runs. Brent Michael Delucia posted three RBI and Brent Graham added two. The Camels tallied 19 hits on the day to PC's 10.
PC scored one run in both the eighth and ninth innings. Brad Zebedis (Rock Hill, S.C.) singled and reached third on two wild pitches. Robby Swab (Kernersville, N.C.) drove in the junior via groundout for PC's second run of the game. In the ninth inning, Hagan smacked a double to left field and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
Billy Motroni (Goose Creek, S.C.) made a great diving grab in the eighth inning and PC committed no errors on the afternoon.
Kelly Wright (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) and Ryan Morris (Jamestown, R.I.) each pitched one scoreless inning of relief.
