MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team dropped the second game of its weekend series at Coastal Carolina on Friday, falling 4-0 to the Chanticleers.
PC moves to 12-25-1 on the year and 5-12 in the Big South Conference while Coastal Carolina improves to 19-21 overall and 10-7 in the League. The two teams meet on Saturday at noon for the series finale.
Coastal's Austin Kerr pitched all nine innings and allowed two hits for the win to improve to 1-0. PC's Chandler Knox produced a solid game on the other side, allowing four runs on five hits over eight innings.
Brad Zebedis (Rock Hill, S.C.) and Nate Chong (Duluth, Ga.) each picked up a hit for the Blue Hose and Chong also drew PC's only walk. Five different players hit safely once for Coastal and G.K. Young posted two RBI with a home run.
Knox held the Chanticleers at bay until the third inning. A leadoff single and sac bunt placed Connor Owings at second for Tyler Chadwick, who hit a double to right center that put Coastal in front, 1-0.
A solo home run from Colin Hering in the sixth inning extended the home team's lead to 2-0 before a G.K. Young two-run shot to left field made the score 4-0 for the eventual final.
The Blue Hose did not commit an error on the afternoon.
