Blue Hose Rally Falls Short at Gardner-Webb

Boiling Springs, NC – The Presbyterian College baseball team rallied to score four runs in the seventh and eighth innings but ultimately fell to Gardner-Webb on Sunday, 6-5, at the John Henry Moss Stadium. The Blue Hose fall to 13-29 overall and 6-12 in the Big South, while the Runnin' Bulldogs improve to 24-18 and 10-8.

How It Happened

Tannor Byrd walked to start the third inning. He was advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Andrew Bladt and scored later on an error from the first baseman.

Gardner-Webb would take the lead off a four-run fourth inning. Mason Fox and Corey Howard hit solo home runs, and Chandler Redmond extended the lead to 4-1 with a two-run double.

In the bottom of the fifth, the hosts scored two more runs on four hits to go up 6-1.

The Blue Hose would rally back with three runs in the top of the seventh. Bladt drew a leadoff walk and would score as a part of a Jonathan White two-run homer to left center, his fourth of the season. Jack McLaughlin then walked and eventually scored on a wild pitch, making the score 6-4.

In the top of the eighth, Colton Chapman hit a solo home run to cut the lead to one, 6-5.

GWU brought on Wil Sellers once again in the ninth inning, and he picked up his third save in as many days.
