PC Finishes Fourth at 2019 Blue Hose Match Play Invitational

Ninety Six, S.C. – The Samford women's golf team won the championship bracket of the 2019 Blue Hose Match Play Invitational on Tuesday with a 4.0-1.0 victory over Gardner-Webb at The Patriot GC (par-72, 6175 yards). Host Presbyterian College finished fourth after falling to top-seeded USC Upstate.

The Spartans picked up all five victories in the final round over PC, but Julie Hillestad (2&1) and Serina Combs (1UP) narrowly dropped their pairings.

USC Upstate's Marley DeFritas won the individual bracket over teammate Amber Amaker by a count of 4&2.

Longwood defeated Winthrop, 4.0-1.0, to finish fifth with the Eagles claiming sixth. UNC Asheville earned seventh with a come-from-behind win over The Citadel who was up 2-0 earlier in the morning. Kellen Alsip won 1UP over Andrea Hoos to seal the victory for Asheville.

Presbyterian College travels to the Wofford Intercollegiate and the Country Club of Spartanburg next Monday-Tuesday for its final fall tournament.
