Durham, N.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team used a quick start offensively to go along with a solid start from Eric Miles en route to a 9-3 victory over NCCU on Wednesday night at Durham Athletic Park.

LEADING OFF
- Eric Miles recorded a career-high eight strikeouts in six innings of work allowing just five hits and a solo home run in the opening inning.
- With his eight strikeouts, Miles moved ahead of Aaron Lesiak in the Blue Hose D1 record book for career strikeouts with 99 career punchouts.
- Miles also took over sole possession of third in the D1 record book for wins with his 14th victory on Wednesday night.
- Jimmy Marcelli extended his team-leading hit streak to seven straight as he has had at least two hits in six games on the young season. Zacchaeus Rasberry also extended his hit streak to seven in a row with a seventh inning single.
- Nick Guimbarda led the game off with his team-leading second home run.
- Marcelli paced the offense with three hits as Guimbarda and Johnny Cook both added two hit contests.
- The four sacrifice bunts recorded for the Blue Hose is the most since 5/25/16 vs Radford.
- PC has recorded at least 10 hits in sixth of its first seven games of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Guimbarda got the offense going with a solo shot to right center to give PC an early 1-0 lead. It was extended by an NCCU error that allowed Marcelli to come around to score and make it 2-0 after a half an inning.
- Following an Eagle home run in the home half of the first, PC added a run off of a Guimbarda sac fly to make it 3-1.
- PC added a run in the fourth on an NCCU wild pitch to make it 4-1.
- The Blue Hose added a pair of runs in the sixth off the bats of Cook and Marcelli as they both had RBI singles to extend the lead to 6-1.
- Presbyterian added three more in the seventh inning off of a pair of RBI singles from Cook and Guimbarda and a sacrifice bunt scoring a run by Jones. The Eagles added a run in their half of the seventh to make it 9-2 Blue Hose.
- NCCU added a run in its half of the eight to make it 9-3 Blue Hose.
- In the ninth, the Eagles were able to load the bases with one out before Senior Colton Springs recorded a pair of strikeouts to secure the victory.
WHAT'S NEXT
- The Blue Hose welcome Brown in for a four-game set beginning on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the PC Baseball Complex to officially kick off the 2019 home slate.
