Baseball Closes Homestand With Victory Over Wofford

Clinton, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team completed a five game homestand with its fourth win, in a 5-4 victory over Wofford on Wednesday at the PC Baseball Complex.

LEADING OFF
- Graham Mitchell and Nick Guimbarda paced the offense with a pair of hits apiece. Mitchell also had two of the Blue Hose four RBI in the victory.
- Zacchaeus Rasberry extended his hit streak to 12 games in a row on Wednesday.
- Jonathan White had a two run single in the third to get PC on the board. White is tied for the team lead hitting .412 with a team best five RBI's in Presbyterian's last five games.
- In the start, Jackson Dean racked up four strikeouts as he allowed a pair of earned runs but didn't factor in the decision.
- Johnny Cook came on in relief and tossed 3.0 innings not allowing an earned run and picking up a pair of strikeouts for the victory. Colton Springs closed the door with a shutout inning which included a pickoff for his second save on the season.
- Springs moved into a three-way tie for fifth in the PC D1 record book with his fifth save on Wednesday.
- PC improved to 4-1 in one-run games and are also 4-2 in games that they score first.
- Today's matchup with the Terriers marked the first of three meetings as the two teams meet again in Clinton on 3/27. The final matchup will take place on 4/10 in Spartanburg.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Presbyterian got on the board in the third as White lined a single to centerfield that scored a pair and gave PC the early 2-0 advantage. Mitchell extended the lead in the third with an RBI groundout that made it 3-0 after three.
- Wofford got on the board in the fifth with an RBI groundout followed up by an RBI single that cut the lead to one, 3-2.
- PC added a run in the fifth as White was thrown out in a caught stealing at second which allowed Guimbarda to race home and give the Blue Hose a 4-2 advantage.
- In the seventh, the Terriers tied it with an RBI single followed up quickly by a sacrifice fly to centerfield which tied the game at four.
- PC took the lead back in its half of the seventh after three hit by pitches loaded the bases, Mitchell lined a single to left field and gave the Blue Hose a lead they never gave up.

WHAT'S NEXT
- The Blue Hose hit the road on Friday for a three-game series against nationally ranked Georgia beginning on Friday at 6:00 p.m. on SEC Network Plus. The Bulldogs sit ninth in the latest D1Baseball.com rankings released on Monday. All three games will be broadcast on SEC Network Plus in Athens.
