Blue Hose Open Eight-Game Homestand On Friday

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team opens an eight-game homestand beginning on Friday afternoon with three games against Notre Dame. The series opener is set for a 2 pm first pitch with Saturday's game also set to begin at 2 pm. Sunday's series finale is now set for an 11 am first pitch.

About the Blue Hose
• The Presbyterian College baseball team fell to N.C. Central, 4-1, during non-conference action last time out at Durham Athletic Park. 
Hunter Grover and Kyle Decker led the Blue Hose offense with a pair of hits apiece including Decker with a pair of doubles.
 
Rankings
• Senior Zacchaeus Rasberry leads the league with seven stolen bases on the season and sits fifth nationally in stolen bases as well. He has had three multi steals games already in 2020. 
Kyle Decker sits in fourth in the NCAA with three sacrifice bunts on the season.
• With his five pitching appearances, junior Austin Paradis is 11th nationally in pitching appearances this season.
• Freshman Kyle Merkle is tied atop the league with a pair of home runs.
 
Series History
• This is the first all-time meeting between Notre Dame and Presbyterian in the Blue Hose D1 era. 

Scouting Notre Dame

• The Fighting Irish enter with a 4-2 record following wins over UIW and Toledo at the Alamo Irish Classic last weekend.
• Notre Dame is led at the plate by Carter Putz with a .438 average on the season as he has knocked in three runs and has three extra-base hits on the year. Spencer Myers leads the Irish with 12 hits and five stolen bases on the season.
• On the mound, Mitch Megias leads the Irish with a 1-0 mark and hasn't allowed an earned run in his six innings of work. Tommy Sheehan is 2-0 with an 0.69 ERA and has 14 strikeouts in 13 innings.
• In the latest NCAA Rankings, the Fighting Irish rank third in the NCAA allowing just 4.58 hits per nine innings and are 12th in the nation with a 0.96 team WHIP.
 
Record Chasing
• Senior Eric Miles needs two strikeouts to move into fourth in the Blue Hose D1 record book. Miles currently sits with 185 career strikeouts. 
• With his next victory, Miles becomes the Blue Hose D1 record holder for wins with his 22nd victory.
• Senior Zacchaeus Rasberry needs five stolen bases to move into a tie for first in the Blue Hose record book. Rasberry has 30 career stolen bases.
 
2020 Preseason Honors
Eric Miles and Zacchaeus Rasberry both were selected to Perfect Game's Preseason All-Big South Team. 
• Perfect Game selected the Blue Hose fifth in its preseason poll
• The Big South Conference Coaches selected PC fifth in the 2020 preseason coaches poll. 
• DI Baseball selected Presbyterian fifth in their preseason poll as well.
 
Blue Hose In The Minors 
• Hayden Deal finished the 2019 season with the Florida Firefrogs, the advanced A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. Deal appeared in 23 games with the Firefrogs while making 22 starts as he went 5-10 with a 3.24 ERA. He recorded 99 strikeouts in 119.1 innings during the season.
 
 Up Next
 • The Blue Hose returns to the diamond for a pair of midweek contests against St John's on Tuesday, March 3rd and Wofford on Wednesday, March 4th. Both games are set for a 2 pm first pitch at the PC Baseball Complex.
