CLINTON, S.C. - Ranked 7
th in the nation, the PC women's wrestling team hosted St. Andrews and top ranked Life University (NAIA) for a round robin tournament on Sunday afternoon inside the Templeton Center.
Samantha Miller,
Cassandra Lopez,
Ainslie Lane,
Catherine Bertrand,
Morgan Norris, and
Lillian Humphries all went undefeated on the day.
Samantha Miller, ranked 6
th in the nation at 101lbs, started her day with a technical fall over returning NAIA All-American Devyn Gomez of Life University, 10-0. In her second bout of the day, Miller wrestled up a weight class and still came away with a first period pin over Brianna Funakoshi of Life. Ranked 3
rd nationally at 109 lbs,
Cassandra Lopez made short work of both her opponents, pinning them both in the first period.
At 116 lbs,
Ainslie Lane made her home debut an exciting one outscoring her opponents 27-4 and picking up two technical falls on the day. Freshman
Catherine Bertrand continued her dominance at 123 lbs. going 3-0 with two first period pins and a technical fall. In her second match of the day, Bertrand came out on fire with a quick takedown and powerful turn to pin returning NAIA national qualifier Riley Dalrymple in just 58 seconds.
Morgan Norris, the nation's 5
th ranked wrestler at 143 lbs, also went 2-0 making short work of both her opponents with two first period pins.
At 155 lbs,
Lillian Humphries had an exciting back-and-forth bout with Life University's Kamryn Hodge. Humphries ended up scoring two four-point throws pinning Hodge a minute into the second period.
Gabriella Shevlin finished her day of competition with two wins at 155 lbs. Shevlin earned two pins on the day with her lone loss coming from wrestling up a weight class against Life University's Elizabeth Grabiec.
Sierra Marie Miller (130 lbs),
Hannah McElroy (136 lbs),
Isabella Badon (155 lbs), and
Aurelia Santoyo (170 lbs) also competed for the Blue Hose in their home opener on Sunday.

Zach Sheaffer. "We have one of the most aggressive and talented teams in the country…I'm looking forward to seeing these young women progress throughout the season."
