About the Blue Hose
• With darkness on the horizon, the Presbyterian College baseball team outlasted UNC Asheville by the score of 5-4 in 14 innings on April 6th at the PC Baseball Complex. Kyle Decker led the offense with four hits and Eric Toth pitched the final 5.2 innings to earn the victory.
• Tuesday's game is the first Blue Hose contest that has exceeded four hours since April 27, 2019, when PC outlasted Pittsburgh 9-7 in 12 innings. The contest with the Panthers went 4:20.
• The game is also the longest in program history on February 21, 2016, when PC and Furman went 11 innings and played for 4:30.
• 14 innings matches the program record for the longest game in terms of innings played as PC has played two other 14 inning contests with the most recent coming on March 16, 2015, against Gardner-Webb

Series History
• PC and Longwood have met 18 times prior to this weekend with the Blue Hose winning 10 of those meetings including two of three in 2019 against the Lancers.
• In the 2019 series with Longwood, Andrew Livingston paced the Blue Hose with a .500 average, while Zacchaeus Rasberry hit .357 with a home run and five runs driven in. Rasberry swipped four bags in that series.
• On the mound, Jackson Dean tossed eight innings allowing one earned run and striking out eight to earn the win in that series with the Lancers.

Scouting Longwood
• Longwood enters Friday's doubleheader with a 10-18 record after losing two-of-three with High Point last time out.
• Hunter GIlliam paces the Lancers on offense with a .323 average which includes seven doubles, three triples and 18 runs driven in. Jack Schnell sits with a .286 average including three doubles and a homer. Eliot Dix leads the Lancers this spring with five homers.

Veach Earns Olerud Watch List Honor
• Presbyterian College infielder & pitcher Chris Veach has been named to the 10th annual John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award watch list, as announced by the College Baseball Foundation on Tuesday.
• The deep pool of talent resulting from several veteran players returning for an extra season granted by the NCAA in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, plus the influx of new talent from the last two seasons, has created a unique pool of 17 top candidates for the 2021 Olerud watch list.
• The list also includes teammates from two Power 5 schools, three players who have already been honored with the Olerud Player of the Week award and four players who were on the watch list for the 2019 award.
• The Chapin, S.C. native is continuing to lead the Blue Hose offensive attack with a conference leading .348 average thru 16 games. He's had a base hit in 14 of 16 games he's played in this spring.
• Veach has already earned a pair of Big South Freshman of the Week honors this spring as well.

Miles & McDaniel Honored With Weekly Honors
• Presbyterian College baseball pitchers Eric Miles and Charlie McDaniel have been named Big South Starting Pitcher and Co-Freshman of the Week respectively for games played March 22-28, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
• Miles was dominant on Saturday in game one of the doubleheader with CSU as he recorded 7.0 shutout innings en route to a 3-0 series clinching win over Charleston Southern. Miles totaled seven strikeouts while only allowing four singles and a pair of walks to earn his second win of the spring.
• In just his third collegiate start, McDaniel tossed a complete game allowing just one earned run to earn his first career victory over Charleston Southern on Friday afternoon. The Sanford, Fla. native allowed just one run and six hits to earn the win. McDaniel faced one batter over the minimum over the final five innings. McDaniel's complete game was the Blue Hose first since May 17, 2019, when Jackson Dean spun a complete game against Charleston Southern.
• Both pitchers were a part of a pitching staff that allowed just two earned runs over 27.0 innings against Charleston Southern this weekend.
• This is Presbyterian's third freshman of the week honoree in six award cycles as Chris Veach earned a pair of awards already this spring.

Strong Opening Statements At The Plate
Chris Veach currently paces the Blue Hose offense with a .348 average to begin the 2021 season as he has hits in 14 of his first 16 collegiate games he's played in and 24 total during that stretch.

He pitched the final 3.0 innings in a 7-6 win over Radford recording his first win of the season. Toth grabbed his first save of the season against CSU to clinch the series.
