Rasberry Joins State College Spikes in MLB Draft League

CLINTON, S.C. – Recently graduated Presbyterian College baseball outfielder Zacchaeus Rasberry has signed with the State College Spikes in the MLB Draft League.

"I am beyond thrilled for Zacchaeus, as this opportunity with the MLB Draft League validates all of his time, energy, and hard work on the field," commented Head Coach Elton Pollock. He was one of the biggest reasons for our success this season and has been a true model of consistency throughout his college career. Above all, he is a young man of outstanding character and his best days are ahead of him."

The MLB Draft League features six teams geographically based in New Jersey, Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania that allow any current draft-eligible prospects the opportunity to showcase their skills against each other.

Draft League participants will receive unprecedented visibility to MLB Club scouts through in-person and state-of-the-art scouting technology and educational programming to prepare them for careers as pro athletes.

"I am glad to be a part of an opportunity like this in the MLB Draft League," commented Zacchaeus Rasberry. "Through a lot of prayer and support from family, friends, and coaches I have been able to continue to play the game I love against some of the best players across the country. I'm excited to see what else comes out of this and prayerfully this is only the beginning," added Rasberry.

In 2021, Rasberry played in 41 games with 40 starts primarily in left and center field. He led the Blue Hose with a .305 average, including seven doubles, two triples, and a team-high 10 home runs while driving in 38 runs and scoring 36. The LaGrange, N.C. native was a perfect 11-for-11 on the bases, including setting the DI record for career stolen bases on May 8 against Gardner-Webb.

He was named to the Big South's All-Tournament team and the conference tournament MVP following a .500 average (6-12) with two home runs and 10 runs driven in. He slugged 1.250 in the tournament.

In the Blue Hose DI career record book, Rasberry finished first in stolen bases (41), second in slugging percentage (.519), fourth in triples (6), fifth in batting average (.318), fifth in home runs (17), and seventh in on-base percentage.
