CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian Blue Hose head men's basketball coach
Quinton Ferrell announced the signing of Kory Mincy, a 6-foot-1 guard from Georgia's Tri-Cities High School. After scoring 19 points in last year's State Championship game, Mincy was named MVP of the Championship game after helping lead Tri-Cities to the 5A State Championship.
"Kory Mincy is one of the best competitors I've ever recruited as a coach," Ferrell said. "He is a high-motor guard with an infectious spirit on the basketball court. Kory is an elite defender at the point guard position and he loves to guard the opposing team's best player. Kory is a young man who is a winner, who help lead his high school to a state championship last season. Kory can score the basketball at all three levels and he does a tremendous job of not turning the ball over. Kory will be more than prepared to make the transition to college basketball coming from the great program at Tri-Cities High School led by coach Omari Forts. We look forward to having Kory and his entire family a part of our Blue Hose basketball family!"
The East Point, Georgia native, who has scored over 1,300 points in his high school career, is a preseason First Team All-State selection.
"In my 20 years of coaching, Kory is the best on-ball defender I have ever coached," said Tri-Cities High School Coach Omari Forts. "He is relentless in his pursuit of ball pressure and is a developing menace off the ball. Kory isn't just limited to success on the defensive end of the floor as he scored over 1,300 points already in his high school career. Kory is a leader and a winner who influences his teammates to be competitors and doesn't discriminate between the starters or the 12th man when it comes to competing. Kory possesses the necessary traits needed to make a valuable contribution immediately to Presbyterian College!"
Last season, Mincy was a First Team All-Region selection. He played AAU for AE5.
"I chose Presbyterian College because there was no other school that gave me more of a family relationship than PC," Mincy said. "What excites me about joining the basketball program next year is fulfilling my dreams of playing Division One basketball and leaving a legacy with my new teammates that I will be playing with next fall."
