Baranski Garners Second Straight Freshman of the Week Honors

First Blue Hose VB Player to Earn Back-to-Back Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the second time in as many weeks, freshman Anna Baranski has been named the Big South Volleyball Freshman of the week for matches played August 29th-September 4th.

Charleston Southern's Peyton Thompson and Angelika Rusin earned player of the week and libero of the week honors respectively.

Coming off of last week's honor, Baranski carried that momentum into Jacksonville as she filled the stat sheet with 24 kills (2.0/set), 72 assists (6.0/set), 48 digs (4.0/set) and added two double-doubles and a triple-double in the Jacksonville Invitational. She also added three aces and three blocks to her stat line.

She opened the weekend with a near triple-double against Georgia State as the Channahon, Ill. native totaled 20 assists, 14 digs and nine kills against the Panthers while also totaling an ace.

Baranski one-upped it later that day with a triple-double against Chattanooga as she totaled 22 assists, 17 digs and 10 kills against the Mocs. She finished the weekend against the host JU with a season-high 30 assists, 17 digs, 5 kills, 3 blocks and a pair of aces.

She ranks fifth in the Big South with 116 helpers and is one of 10 DI players to record at least one triple-double this season.

It marks the first time in the Blue Hose DI history that someone has earned back-to-back freshman of the week awards and the fifth time in the same time span that a player won two freshman of the week's in the same season.

The Blue Hose continue their season-high 12 match road swing in Boone, N.C. at the Mountaineer Classic hosted by Appalachian State. The Blue Hose face Furman at 10 a.m. on Friday before battling Texas A&M-Commerce at 4 p.m…. The weekend wraps up on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. against the host Mountaineers on ESPN+.
