LAST TIME OUT
The Presbyterian Blue Hose rolled over the Carolina Christian Centurions, 126-57, in an exhibition game at the Templeton Center on last Thursday.
 
Twelve Presbyterian players scored at least six points with seven players in double-figures. Kobe Stewart scored a game-high 17 points while shooting 6-for-7 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Jonah Pierce scored 16 points on a perfect 7-for-7 shooting from the field. Marquis Barnett, Houston Jones, who was 4-for-4 from the field, and Crosby James, who was 4-for-5 from beyond the three-point arc, chipped in with 12 points apiece.  Jaylen Peterson, who was 4-for-4 from the field, and Carl Parrish tallied 11 points each. 
 
PRESBYTERIAN COACH QUINTON FERRELL
Quinton Ferrell is in his fifth season as the head coach of his alma mater, Presbyterian College. Ferrell, a former Blue Hose team captain and a 2007 PC graduate, is one of 50 coaches in the NCAA Division I ranks that are coaching their alma maters.

RETURNING LETTERWINNERS - The Blue Hose return three starters and seven letterwinners off last season's team. The returning letterwinners: seniors guards Crosby James (9.3 ppg, 42 three-point field goals made), Trevon Reddish-Rhone (7.2 ppg, 2.2 apg), and guard/forward Kobe Stewart (7.0 ppg, 4.6 rpg), junior guard Marquis Barnett (9.0 ppg, 4.9 rpg), a 2022 Big South All-Freshman team selection, and sophomores guards Houston Jones (2.5 ppg, 20 games played), and Quadir Pettaway (1.9 ppg, 19 games played), and forward Jaylen Peterson (1.1 ppg, 14 games played).

NEWCOMERS – Joining the returners are seven newcomers: juniors guard Jamahri Harvey, a UNCW transfer, forward Jonah Pierce, a transfer from Francis Marion, forward Kaleb Scott, a Georgia State transfer, and guard Samage Teel, a transfer from Winston-Salem State, rounding out the roster are freshmen guards Kory Mincy, Carl Parrish and Henderson Williams.

2023-24 SCHEDULE – The schedule is highlighted by 15 regular season home games with non-conference home games against CIU, Citadel, Tennessee Tech, Florida A&M, Mid-Atlantic Christian, Kennesaw State, and Johnson & Wales. On the road in non-conference play, Presbyterian plays Vanderbilt, Elon, VMI, Furman, and Wake Forest.

REGULAR-SEASON TOURNAMENT - The Presbyterian Blue Hose play in the three-game First Coast Classic at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla., November 16-18. Presbyterian plays North Florida, Maine, and Northwestern State in the First Coast Classic. This marks the third consecutive season that the Blue Hose have played in a tournament in November. In the 2021-22 season, the Blue Hose claimed the University of New Orleans Classic title with wins over New Orleans, VMI, and Central Arkansas.

BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE SCHEDULE - With nine teams in the Big South Conference, the league will play a true round-robin league schedule with every team playing each other home and away. The Blue Hose begin the 16-team league schedule on the road at Charleston Southern on Wednesday, January 3. The Big South home opener is a Saturday, January 6 game against defending Big South Champs UNC Asheville.

ITALY TRIP – This summer, Presbyterian took a nine-day trip to Italy, August 1-9,. The Blue Hose visited Rome, Florence, and Milan while playing a couple of exhibition games. During the trip, the Blue Hose visited several historic sites: the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum in Rome; and the David statue in the Accademia Gallery in Florence. While today was the first official practice for the 2023-24 season, in preparation for the trip to Italy, Presbyterian was allowed to have 10 full-team practices leading up to the team's departure.

PRESBYTERIAN-VANDERBILT SERIES
Tuesday's game marks the second-ever meeting between PC and Vanderbilt. The Commodores defeated Presbyterian at home, 88-47, in their previous game on November 12, 2010. Current PC assistant coach Al'lonzo Coleman led the Blue with 17 points and six rebounds in that game.
 
SCOUTING VANDERBILT
The Commodores finished tied for fourth in the SEC last season while reaching the quarterfinals of the NIT. Vanderbilt is led by the returning backcourt of guards Ezra Manjon and Tyrin Lawrence. Vanderbilt coach Jerry Stackhouse earned SEC Co-Coach of the Year honors last season.
