CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College's baseball team has signed nine new players to the Blue Hose family as a part of Signing Day for the class of 2024.
Andrew Albertus, JJ Harrell, Layton Hyneman, Brody Linker, Prince Mairena, Cameron Mallo, Michael Marroquin Jr., Brayden Patrick, and Matthew Rollison will be joining the team this Fall which will be the 18
th year in the schools Division I history.

Andrew Albertus
5'9" | Middle Infield
Carrollton High School | Carrollton, Ga.
Albertus is a part of the Carrollton Trojans High School baseball team and is planning to graduate in 2024. He is a key player for the Trojans, being ranked in the top 5 most quality batters and has the second all-time walks recorded in program history. Still with one year left to play, this Georgia native has already led his team to All-State and All-Region championships. Albertus is also a great student, receiving all A's and B's in the classroom.
JJ Harrell
6'0" | L Pitcher
Homeschool | Concord, N.C.
Harrell was a key player for the On-Deck O's club baseball team where he recorded some impressive statistics. Over his 22.2 innings pitched, this left-handed pitcher held opponents to a .081 batting average while recording a 0.618 ERA. He also had a 0.882 WHIP and 39 strikeouts. This North Carolina native intends on majoring in economics during his time at Presbyterian College.
Layton Hyneman
5'10" | Catcher / 3B
Villa Rica High School | Villa Rica, Ga.
Hyneman has been a varsity starter on the Villa Rica High School baseball team for four years and has achieved many athletic honors for his performances. In 2023 he collected honors such as, GHSA Baseball Region Defensive Player of the Year, VRHS Baseball Defensive Player of the Year, and earned a spot on First Team All-Region. The Georgia native was also an outstanding student, earning awards and being a part of various extracurriculars including, Georgia Certificate of Merit (top 5% of class) as a junior, four-year National Beta Club member, three-year National Honors Society member, three-year Academic Recognition of Maintaining 4.0 for Year, National Society of High School Scholars member, and senior year Heisman High School Scholarship School Winner. He was also a part of many high school activities outside of athletics including, a Carroll County Junior Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program member during his junior year, VRHS Student Government Senior Representative, VRHS Student Government Junior Class President, CFA Leadership Academy member his junior year, a two-year member of the VRHS FCA Leadership Team, and a Student Athlete Leadership Training member in his junior year.
Brody Linker
6'3" | R Pitcher
Crescent High School | Anderson, S.C.
Linker is an integral part of his high school baseball team, leading his team to the 2021 Upper State Championship and winning the Regional Championships in 2021 and 2023. Over his career so far, this South Carolina native has recorded a batting average of .383, 58 RBI's, 31 extra base hits, a 1.22 ERA, 154 strikeouts in 107 innings. Linker received honors for his performances including two-time All-Region selections, two-time SCBCA All-State Team, 2023 Region Player of the Year, and 2023 Anderson/Pickens Independent Mail Player of the Year. In the classroom, Linker has received an academic letter in both his sophomore and junior year along with being a Palmetto Fellows recipient.
Prince Mairena
5'10" | 1B / Utility
Porter Ridge High School | Indian Trail, N.C.
This North Carolina native has achieved many accomplishments throughout his time with Porter Ridge High School. Over his 60 Games he recorded a .378 batting average,
seven home runs, 35 RBI's, and 22 stolen bases. Mariena has also achieved athletic honors including Newcomer of the Year (Freshman), 2x All Conference (Freshman & Junior), 2x All County First Team (Freshman & Junior), Conference MVP Finalist (Junior Year), 2020 Team USA invite, 2022 Perfect Game All Region, 2023 Baseball Factory All American, and 2023 Best in the US All State. He also played for a club team called the Carolina Knights where he tallied a .445 Batting Average, eight home runs, 110 RBI's, and 67 stolen Bases.
Cameron Mallo
5'10" | Shortstop
Jefferson High School | Tampa, Fl.
Mallo has been an important part of his high school's baseball team over the past three seasons. During his freshman year he recorded a .309 batting average. The following season he tallied a .303 batting average. In his junior season, he brought his batting average up to .405 which helped lead his team to victory in the 2023 district championship, 2023 region championship and give them a state championship final four appearance. This Florida native was named 2023 4A player of the year, 2x Second Team All-County, First Team All-County, and All 813-prep team. Academically, Mallo is a high honor roll student, part of the principal's honor roll, and is a member of the nation honors society.
Michael Marroquin Jr.
6'0" | R Pitcher
Jefferson High School | Tampa, Fl.
This right-handed pitcher played in 64 innings for Jefferson High School during his junior year. Throughout the 2023 season, he totaled a 2.06 ERA, 77 KS, and led his team to victory in the district championship, regional championship, and a final four appearance at states. Marroquin is also a high honor roll student at Jefferson High School.
Brayden Patrick
5'9" | R Pitcher / Outfield
Kings Mountain High School | Kings Mountain, N.C.
Patrick played for the Elite club baseball team where he was ranked in the top 50. He earned the 2023 Perfect Game Preseason All-American award. He was also in the Perfect Game Top 500 ranking. This North Carolina native intends on majoring in business during his time at Presbyterian College.
Matthew Rollison
5'11" | 3B
Dutch Fork High School | Irmo, S.C.
During Rollison's sophomore year with Dutch Fork High School, he recorded three home runs and had two in one game. This South Carolina native had a series saving double play against the state winning river bluff team during his junior year which helped him become a part of the 2023 All-Region Selection. He also played for the Carolina sox where he recorded a .512 batting average in 2022 followed by a .542 batting average in 2023. Rollison plans on majoring in Business during his time at Presbyterian College.
