Baseball Returns Home for Midweek Battle with Davidson

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team returns home for the first time in two weeks for a midweek battle against Davidson from the PC Baseball Complex with first pitch slated for 6 p.m… The game will be shown on ESPN+.

About the Blue Hose
• The Blue Hose return to Clinton for the first time in two weeks to open a five-game homestand on Tuesday against Davidson. PC comes off of a 2-1 weekend to begin league play against HPU while the Wildcats took two of three from Marist at home over the weekend.

Scouting the Wildcats
• Davidson enters with a 9-10 record as the Wildcats won three of their past four contests. Michael O'Shaughnessy leads Davidson at the plate with a .400 average as he's tallied five homers and 14 RBIs thus far with Ryan Wilson sitting at .365 with four doubles and eight homers. Jack Cotrone sits at .361 entering Tuesday with seven long balls. The Wildcats sit 20th in the country in home runs with 35 big flies. On the mound, AJ Pabst is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA over seven outings he's allowed one earned run. Isaac Fix has allowed one earned run over five innings. Will Schomberg leads the Wildcats among starters with a 2-1 record to go along with a 2.49 ERA and 32 strikeouts.

Head to Head vs Davidson
• The Blue Hose and Wildcats are knotted at six in the head-to-head series battle throughout the PC DI era. Tuesday marks the first time these two teams have met since 2019 when the Wildcats took two-of-three midweeks from the Blue Hose.

Blue Hose in the Ranks
Jack Gorman enters the week tied for third in the conference in hits with 26. He's also tied for fourth in the league with seven doubles.
Kyle Decker is tied for fifth in the league with nine steals.
Joel Dragoo and Brody Fahr are both tied for fourth in walks drawn with 16 apiece.
Tanner Smith is tied atop the league in saves with three. Luke Gibson is fourth in the league with a pair of saves.
Charlie McDaniel is second in the Big South with a 6.25 strikeout-to-walk ratio. McDaniel is second in the conference with 1.44 walks allowed per nine innings.

Blue Hose Begin League Play With Series Win
• The Presbyterian College baseball team raced out to an early lead and withstood a late rally from the host High Point as the Blue Hose tallied a 7-6 victory over the Panthers on Friday afternoon at Williard Stadium. Senior Tanner Smith was magnificent for PC tossing 3.2 scoreless innings to preserve the conference opening win for the Blue Hose.
• The Presbyterian College baseball team got out to an early lead once again on Saturday and withstood a late rally from High Point to clinch a series win with an 8-7 victory Saturday night at Williard Stadium. In the victory, Brody Fahr and Ryan Ouzts both connected on homers.
• The Presbyterian College baseball team fell in Sunday's series finale 11-6 against the host High Point Panthers at Williard Stadium. Freshman Trey Fenderson connected on a two-run triple and Jack Gorman added a two-run homer to help pace the offense on Sunday afternoon.

Blue Hose Offense Pushes Past Broncos
• Behind a career-high five hits from junior Jack Gorman, the Presbyterian College baseball team earned a 17-11 midweek win on Tuesday night over Western Michigan at the PC Baseball Complex. Gorman finished with five hits, including a pair of doubles to pace the offense to the midweek victory.
• Dragoo tied for the program's DI record for walks as he drew four free passes in the contest.
• The 17 runs the Blue Hose scored on Tuesday marks the most scored by a PC team since last May when Presbyterian tallied 22 runs against CSU.
• The Blue Hose improved to 5-1 on the season, totaling 10+ hits following the 13 hits recorded in Tuesday's action.
• As a team, PC drew 14 walks in the victory marking the program's DI single-game record for walks drawn in a game.

McDaniel Earns Big South Co-Freshman of the Week Honors
• Following six shutout innings in his first college start on Wednesday, Presbyterian College baseball freshman Mason McDaniel (Sanford, Fla.) has been named the Big South Co-Freshman of the Week for games played Feb. 20-26, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
• McDaniel dazzled in his first college start against Western Carolina on Wednesday as the Blue Hose left-hander tossed six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts in the victory over the Catamounts. He scattered just two hits and two walks throughout his outing to get the win. In the start Wednesday, he tallied six strikeouts in the first four innings while only allowing one hit and totaling three innings of three up and three down. McDaniel worked around a pair of baserunners in the fifth without harm before getting his final strikeout in the sixth to earn his first collegiate win.

2023 Preseason Honors
• Catcher Dalton Reeves was named to the league's all-conference team as selected by Perfect Game.
• DI Baseball has tabbed a host of Blue Hose on the conference's top prospects in the next few drafts. RHP Duncan Howard, RHP Fenix DiGiacomo, Catcher Dalton Reeves, RHP Colbey Klepper, RHP Tanner Smith and OF Jay Wetherington were apart of the 2023 Draft Rankings.
Joel Dragoo was tabbed by the publication in the 2024 Big South Prospect Rankings.
Jake Randolph, Trey Fenderson and Amman Dewberry were selected to the Impact Freshman in the league on the list by DI Baseball.

• Head Coach Elton Pollock was busy in the offsesaon with the addition of 16 new faces to the Blue Hose family.
• The incoming class includes Evan Cuervo, Jay Allred, Jake Randolph, Trey Fenderson, Travis Camp, William Nobles, Ryan Becker, Lorenzo Rios, Kyle Mueller, Luke Gibson, Tyler Mecchella, Fenix DiGiacomo, Mason McDaniel, Eli Bowery, Jeremiah Hampton, Amman Dewberry.
