CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Unequivocally the most accomplished season in the young history of the Presbyterian College women's wrestling program, the 2022-23 title-winning campaign came to a triumphant conclusion on Saturday evening at the NCWWC National Championships as the Blue Hose marched to five extra victories in the tournament's second half. Not only that, but the

Cassandra Lopez triumvirate all ended their magnificent year in a winning manner, grabbing top-seven-or-better standings on the season's grandest stage.
A four-month long journey that obliterated the school's record books, Presbyterian closes the curtain on a year that entailed 191 total wins, 30 top-three placements in multi-team fare, and a whopping three competitors breaking the 30-win barrier. Helping PC achieve a ninth-place finish nationally (a six-spot improvement from the previous season), Lopez, Wehrmeister, and Miller synced up for 11 victories over the past 24 hours to officially claim All-America status, cementing PC's arrival as a premier program in the ever-growing sport of women's wrestling.
NOTABLES
- Seizing essentially every badge that was deemed possible over a freshman season that had to be seen to be believed, Wehrmeister put the finishing touches on one of the greatest first years ever produced by a Blue Hose rookie full-stop, bouncing back from a semifinal defeat to claim the bronze medal by combined scores of 24-8.
- Putting into perspective the sheer dominance of Wehrmeister's debut ruckus, the freshman strung together 25 wins solely by technical fall, a result that was obtained twice over the weekend and once on Saturday. Displaying a win percentage that nearly hits 90%, the Missourian ends her exemplary first season with an overall record of 38-5, claiming a W in 19 of her last 21 matches.
- Fittingly, Miller and Lopez wrap up their junior and senior stints by sharing the exact same number in the win column (31), each blazing a path through the tourney's consolation side and ending with hardware in their possession. Miller, now an All-American in every season at the collegiate level, grabbed a top-five finish in every single bracket of which she featured, while Lopez puts a laudable four-year career to bed as the Blue Hose's all-time pins leader for a single season with 20 victories by fall.
- A mainstay in the NWCA's top ten over nearly the entire campaign, Presbyterian lived up to the hype when all was said and done on the '22-'23 chapter, ending a phenomenal ride with a crescendo befitting of all the outstanding achievements that the group had envisioned back in November.
