Volleyball Announces 2023 Fall Schedule

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College and new head volleyball coach Steve Benson announced the team's 2023 schedule on Monday. The schedule consists of 25 regular season matches including nine of those matches taking place at the Templeton Center.

The Blue Hose are set to battle four opponents for the first time in 2023 with a pair of those coming in two of the three pre-conference tournaments on the slate.

"We are excited for our tournaments leading into Big South play which are highlighted by our trip to Texas. In our non-conference slate we are looking at great opportunities to prepare for a tough conference slate and making a push for the Big South Championship this fall," commented head coach Steve Benson.

The Blue Hose are set to begin the 2023 season with a home exhibition match on Friday, August 18 against Queens inside the Templeton Center. The same two teams opened the 2022 season in Charlotte with a preseason clash.

Presbyterian opens the Steve Benson Era on Friday, August 25 with a visit to UNC Wilmington to take part in the tournament hosted by the Seahawks. The Blue Hose open the weekend in Wilmington with a matchup against Stetson before facing Fordham and the host UNCW on Saturday, August 26.

The Blue Hose continue their season-opening road swing with a visit west to Arlington to take part in a two-day tournament hosted by UTA beginning on Friday, September 1 with a doubleheader against Incarnate Word and Louisiana Tech. The tournament wraps up on Saturday with a first serve against the host Mavericks.

The nine-match three tournament road swing concludes beginning on September 8 at Wofford's tournament. The Blue Hose will open the tournament in a Friday doubleheader against the host Terriers and Belmont before facing St. Francis on the next morning.

PC opens the home schedule on Thursday, September 14 against Furman before playing host to Georgia State on Saturday, September 16 inside the Templeton Center.

The Big South slate begins for the Blue Hose on Friday, September 22 with a trip to Charleston Southern to battle the Bucs in Charleston. The road swing to begin league play continues the next weekend at UNC Asheville (Sept. 29) and USC Upstate (Sept. 30).

The home-heavy month of October begins for the Blue Hose on Oct. 6 & 7 with back-to-back home matches against Gardner-Webb and Winthrop. The home stretch continues with matches welcoming in High Point (Oct. 13) and Radford (Oct. 14).

The lone road matches in the month of October come on October 20 at Winthrop before traveling to Gardner-Webb the next afternoon in Boiling Springs.

The final two matches of the home slate in October occur when PC welcomes in USC Upstate on October 27 before squaring off with UNC Asheville the next afternoon from Clinton.

PC begins the month of November with a visit to Radford on Friday, November 3 before heading to High Point the next afternoon for the final road match of the 2023 regular season. The Blue & Garnet wrap up the home slate on Friday, November 10 with a visit from Charleston Southern in the final conference match of the 2023 campaign.

High Point is set to host the Big South Conference Championship from Nov. 18-19 in High Point, N.C.
