CLINTON, S.C. – A true workhorse in the Blue Hose back line, sophomore defender Lyla Chadd of the Presbyterian College women's soccer team has been named the Adidas / Game One PC Student-Athlete of the Week.

Never missing a single start in 30 opportunities since arriving on campus last fall, Chadd was part of a PC defense that tallied its third shutout of the season in a road trip to Longwood on Saturday.

A native of Charlotte, Lyla has played 1,258 out of a possible 1,260 minutes for head coach Matt Smith's club. In nearly two full seasons, she has been subbed out for just 37 total minutes (the equivalent of less than a full half).

Presbyterian denied Longwood any points over the weekend in what amounted to their third tie against a Big South opponent (fourth draw overall). With Chadd's help, PC also blanked Southern Wesleyan and The Citadel during the non-conference portion of the schedule.



 
DISTINGUISHED DEFENSE
 
- Since Chadd arrived in Clinton for the beginning of the 2023 season, the Blue Hose have earned a shutout against six different schools. With only two matches left until tournament play, PC ranks third in the Big South in goals allowed per game (1.14).

- The garnet and blue have given up just 16 scores in 14 appearances, starting the season by going eight consecutive matches with zero goals allowed within the last 30 minutes of a game.

- Up in Farmville 48 hours ago, the Presby defense again wouldn't break on a day where Longwood recorded 12 shot attempts. Since August, the Scotsmen have limited the other side to one goal or fewer on nine separate days.

 
LOOKING AHEAD
 
- Presbyterian's final week of the regular season will entail back-to-back home meetings versus UNC Asheville (Wednesday) and Radford (Saturday).

- Both of those bouts will be streamed live on ESPN+, as coach Smith's gang looks to stay within the conference's top six and punch a ticket to the Big South tourney.

- First touch against the Bulldogs is labeled for 7:00 PM in two days, as the Blue Hose aim for their second league victory of a tumultuous year.

The Presbyterian College athletic department partnered with Game One on a multi-year apparel agreement in November 2022 as an official team dealer for Adidas. The partnership extended the university's alliance with Adidas which began in 2015 to outfit the Blue Hose athletic programs.
