PC Hosts Four-Game Series Against St. Bonaventure

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose baseball team (5-4) is hosting another four-game series at the PC Baseball Complex. This time against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (2-5) with game one starting on Thursday, February 28 at 1:00 p.m.

ABOUT THE BLUE HOSE
- Throughout Presbyterian's first nine games of the season, they have tallied a 5-4 record with four wins over St. Peter's and a win against St. Joseph's.
- The Blue Hose offense is led by Brody Fahr who is currently tied for sixth in the country for his .600 batting average over his 25 at bats this season. He has also tallied 15 hits, 13 runs, 12 RBIs, and a .920 slugging percentage.
- Joel Dragoo leads the team with six home runs over his 29 at bats. He has totaled 15 hits, 13 runs, 22 RBIs, a .517 batting average, and a 1.241 slugging percentage.
- RHP Daniel Eagen has pitched in 9.2 innings so far this year where he has put up a 1.86 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, with 19 strikeouts and a .162 batting average against.
- LHP Charlie McDaniel has recorded a 3.18 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, 17 strikeouts, and a .238 batting average against while pitching in 11.1 innings.
 
SCOUTING THE BONNIES
- St. Bonaventure heads into the series with a 2-5 record with wins over The Citadel and Louisville.
- The team has put up a .289 batting average and a 12.93 ERA on the mound.
- Junior David Marshall leads the team with a .444 batting average over his 27 at bats. He has tallied 12 hits and 10 RBIs so far this season.
- Chance Moore is predicted to start on Thursday, he has pitched in 13 innings so far this year where he has recorded a 1-0 record, a 2.77 ERA, and struck out six batters.
- The Bonnie are under the direction of head coach Jason Rathbun who is in his second season at the helm of the program.
 
BIG SOUTH WEEKLY AWARDS
The Presbyterian College Blue Hose baseball player's Joel Dragoo, Daniel Eagen, and Tristan McGregor all earned Big South honors for their performances throughout the first week of the 2024 baseball season. Dragoo was awarded with Player of the Week, Eagen was named Starting Pitcher of the Week, and McGregor earned Freshman of the Week.
 
The Blue Hose swept their season opening series against the St. Peter's Peacocks last week with an impressive 4-0 record throughout the weekend. PC's home opener was on Friday, February 16 where they beat the Peacocks 10-2. The following day, the series continued with a double header containing two seven inning games. In the first game the Blue Hose won 16-6 before winning game number two 16-1. The final game of the series was played on that Sunday where Presby won 16-3.
 
2024 PRESEASON HONORS
• Infielder Brody Fahr and RHP Tanner Smith were named to the league's preseason all-conference team as selected by the league's coaches.
• After his performance last season, Fahr was named to the second-team all-conference as an infielder where he capped off one of the best seasons in the Blue Hose DI program history.
• Smith earned an honorable mention award from the coaches around the league for his efforts last season.
• Smith was also named to the NCBWA Preseason Stopper of the Year Watchlist.
• Daniel Eagen is the No. 1 Big South top prospect for the 2024 draft.
 
NEWCOMERS JOIN THE BLUE HOSE FAMILY
• Head Coach Elton Pollock was busy in the offseason with the addition of 15 new faces to the Blue Hose family.
• The incoming players include Aaron Hobson, Jackson Hugus, Robbie Boykin, Rhogue Wallace, Adam Featherstone, Jeffrey Hays, Holden Baker, Tristan McGregor, Christian Charalambous, Carter Payne, Mikah Conner, Tyrell Williams, Caden Barnett, Boone Cartee, and Brooks Chamberlin.
 
A LOOK AT THE 2024 SLATE
• The Presbyterian College baseball team announced its 2024 slate which features 29 home games at Elton Pollock Field. The schedule also features five games against teams from the ACC and the SEC along with two matchups against teams from the 2023 NCAA tournament.
• Presbyterian finishes off the month at home with four games against St. Bonaventure from Feb. 29 – Mar. 2.
• After Western Michigan visits Clinton on March 5, PC will head to Memphis, TN for three more road games from March 8-10 against Jackson State, Memphis, and Butler.
• The Blue Hose then return to S.C. for a game in Charleston on March 12 against the Citadel.
• Their last home stretch of the month will be against George Washington University from March 15-17.
• Closing out the month with eight more games on the road, PC will once again face Clemson at Fluor Field on March 20 before opening up conference play with a three-game series at Longwood from March 22-24.
• A trip to the University of South Carolina will mark the second SEC matchup of the season on March 26.
• The Blue Hose close out March with a trip up to North Carolina to battle Gardner-Webb from March 28-30.
• In the month of April, after traveling to Atlanta, Ga. to face Georgia Tech, PC will spend a majority of their time at home with games against Radford (April 5-7), Western Carolina University (April 9), Winthrop (April 12-14), and USC Upstate (April 26-28).
• Presbyterian also has contests at Wofford (April 16) and High Point (April 19-21).
• PC will travel to Charleston, S.C. for a trio of games against Charleston Southern from May 3-5, before returning home for a game against Wofford on May 7.
• The Blue Hose will play against the Citadel in a three-game series, starting in Clinton on May 10-11 and then moving to Charleston, S.C. for the final game on May 12.
• The final road match of the regular season will be on May 14 against Western Carolina followed by the final home series against UNC Asheville from May 16-18.
• The 2024 Big South Baseball Tournament will be played at Truist Point in High Point, N.C. The four-team tournament will determine the Big South's automatic bid recipient to the NCAA Championship which will be held Thursday-Saturday, May 22-26.
