LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose fell to the Western Carolina Catamounts on Tuesday night with a final score of 9-5. Despite Jake Randolph's first homer of his career in the bottom of the second inning, the team wasn't able to pull off the midweek victory.
 
ABOUT THE BLUE HOSE
- PC has tallied a 16-17 record so far this season with wins over St. Peter's (x4), St. Joseph's, St. Bonaventure (x2), Jackson State, Memphis, Longwood (x2), Gardner-Webb (x2), and Radford (x3).
- The team has recorded a .243 batting average and a 4.59 ERA.
- Joel Dragoo leads the Blue Hose offense with a .387 batting average over his 111 at bats so far this season. He has tallied 43 hits, 29 runs, 42 RBIs, and a .739 slugging percentage (13 doubles, a triple, and eight home runs).
- Brody Fahr plays a key role for the Blue Hose as well. He has put up a .342 batting average over his 114 at bats while earning 34 runs, 39 hits, 23 RBIs, and a .500 slugging percentage (nine doubles, three triples, and 1 homer).
- RHP Daniel Eagen leads the team with his impressive 65 strikeouts and a 1.56 ERA. Over his 34.2 innings on the mound, he has also tallied a 3-0 record and a 0.95 WHIP, while holding opponents to a .179 batting average.
- LHP Charlie McDaniel leads the team with his 1.82 ERA over his 49.1 innings pitched. He has also tallied 52 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .202 batting average.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
- Winthrop enters the weekend with a 13-17-1 record with wins over Toledo (x2), Maine (x3), Appalachian State, Longwood (x2), Gardner-Webb (x2), Wofford, and The Citadel (x2).
- The team has recorded a batting average of .254 while pitching at a 5.53 ERA.
- Freshman Infielder Jaylen Hernandez leads the team offensively with his .289 batting average over his 90 at bats. He has also recorded 26 hits, 15 runs, 17 RBIs, and gets on base 40.2 percent of the time.
- Winthrop is under the direction of head coach Tom Riginos.
 
PRESBYTERIAN – WINTHROP SERIES
This weekend will mark the 43^rd, 44^th, and 45^th times that these two teams will compete since Presbyterian joined Division I in 2008. Last season, Winthrop took the series after winning the first and third games, both with scores of 7-4. The Blue Hose won the second game of the series 10-3. The Eagles lead the all-time series between the two teams 22-20.
 
BIG SOUTH WEEKLY AWARDS
- The Presbyterian College Blue Hose baseball player's Joel Dragoo, Daniel Eagen, and Tristan McGregor all earned Big South honors for their performances throughout the first week of the 2024 baseball season. Dragoo was awarded with Player of the Week, Eagen was named Starting Pitcher of the Week, and McGregor earned Freshman of the Week.
- Tristan McGregor earned his second Big South Freshman of the Week award on March 4 following his efforts against St. Bonaventure.
- Daniel Eagen was named Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week after his performance in Presbyterian's 6-2 victory over Gardner-Webb on March 28. He pitched for 5.0 innings while throwing 11 strikeouts and holding batters to no runs and just one hit.
- Joel Dragoo was named Big South Player of the Week for the second time this season on April 8 after his performance in Presbyterian's conference sweep over the Radford Highlanders.
- Daniel Eagen went back to back weeks with the Starting Pitcher of the Week title after tailing a new career-best of 14 strikeouts in PC's first win over the Highlanders.
 
OPENING SERIES SWEEP
The Blue Hose swept their season opening four game series against the St. Peter's Peacocks. PC's home opener was on Friday, February 16 where they beat the Peacocks 10-2. The following day, the series continued with a double header containing two seven inning games. In the first game the Blue Hose won 16-6 before winning game number two 16-1. The final game of the series was played on that Sunday where Presby won 16-3.
 
2024 PRESEASON HONORS
- Infielder Brody Fahr and RHP Tanner Smith were named to the league's preseason all-conference team as selected by the league's coaches.
- After his performance last season, Fahr was named to the second-team all-conference as an infielder where he capped off one of the best seasons in the Blue Hose DI program history.
- Smith earned an honorable mention award from the coaches around the league for his efforts last season.
- Smith was also named to the NCBWA Preseason Stopper of the Year Watchlist.
- Daniel Eagen is the No. 1 Big South top prospect for the 2024 draft.
 
NEWCOMERS JOIN THE BLUE HOSE FAMILY
- Head Coach Elton Pollock was busy in the offseason with the addition of 15 new faces to the Blue Hose family.
-  The incoming players include Aaron Hobson, Jackson Hugus, Robbie Boykin, Rhogue Wallace, Adam Featherstone, Jeffrey Hays, Holden Baker, Tristan McGregor, Christian Charalambous, Carter Payne, Mikah Conner, Tyrell Williams, Caden Barnett, Boone Cartee, and Brooks Chamberlin.
 
A LOOK AT THE 2024 SLATE
- In the month of April, after traveling to Atlanta, Ga. to face Georgia Tech, PC will spend a majority of their time at home with games against Radford (April 5-7), Western Carolina University (April 9), Winthrop (April 12-14), and USC Upstate (April 26-28).
- Presbyterian also has contests at Wofford (April 16) and High Point (April 19-21).
- PC will travel to Charleston, S.C. for a trio of games against Charleston Southern from May 3-5, before returning home for a game against Wofford on May 7.
- The Blue Hose will play against the Citadel in a three-game series, starting in Clinton on May 10-11 and then moving to Charleston, S.C. for the final game on May 12.
- The final road match of the regular season will be on May 14 against Western Carolina followed by the final home series against UNC Asheville from May 16-18.
- The 2024 Big South Baseball Tournament will be played at Truist Point in High Point, N.C. The four-team tournament will determine the Big South's automatic bid recipient to the NCAA Championship which will be held Thursday-Saturday, May 22-26.
