PC Heads to Spartanburg for Midweek Matchup with Wofford

LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose swept the Winthrop Eagles last weekend as their second conference sweep at the PC Baseball complex this season. Eagen led the team on Friday to a 20-3 victory while he threw for nine strikeouts over his six innings on the mound. On Saturday, McDaniel improved to 6-0 after helping the team secure a 13-1 win. Sunday was a bit tighter, but the Blue Hose pulled off the sweep with a 4-3 win.

ABOUT THE BLUE HOSE
- PC has tallied a 19-17 record so far this season with wins over St. Peter's (x4), St. Joseph's, St. Bonaventure (x2), Jackson State, Memphis, Longwood (x2), Gardner-Webb (x2), Radford (x3), and Winthrop (x3).
- The team has recorded a .254 batting average and a 4.34 ERA.
Joel Dragoo leads the Blue Hose offense with a .403 batting average over his 124 at bats so far this season. He has tallied 50 hits, 33 runs, 44 RBIs, and a .774 slugging percentage (15 doubles, two triples, and nine home runs).
Brody Fahr plays a key role for the Blue Hose as well. He has put up a .344 batting average over his 125 at bats while earning 39 runs, 43 hits, 29 RBIs, and a .528 slugging percentage (11 doubles, three triples, and two home runs).
- RHP Daniel Eagen leads the team with his impressive 74 strikeouts and a 1.55 ERA. Over his 40.2 innings on the mound, he has also tallied a 4-0 record and a 0.93 WHIP, while holding opponents to a .179 batting average.
- LHP Charlie McDaniel leads the team with his 1.76 ERA over his 56.1 innings pitched. He has also tallied 57 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .202 batting average.
 
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
- Wofford enters Tuesday's game with a 24-10 record including wins over Towson (x2), Bucknell, Fairleigh Dickinson (x3), Fordham (x3), Lafayette (x3), College of Charleston, The Citadel (x3), Virginia Military Institute, Charleston Southern, Elon, UNCG (x2), North Florida, and Florida International University (x2).
- The team has recorded a batting average of .346 while pitching at a 5.64 ERA.
- Junior outfielder Marshall Toole leads the team offensively with his .421 batting average over his 133 at bats. He has also recorded 56 hits, 53 runs, 37 RBIs, and gets on base 52.4 percent of the time.
- Wofford is under the direction of head coach J.J. Edwards.
 
PRESBYTERIAN – WOFFORD SERIES
Tuesday will mark the 37th time that these two teams will compete since Presbyterian joined Division I in 2008. The Terrier's won two games over the Blue Hose last season, and the last time PC beat Wofford was in the 2019 season. Wofford leads the all-time series between the two teams 19-17.
 
BIG SOUTH WEEKLY AWARDS
- The Presbyterian College Blue Hose baseball player's Joel DragooDaniel Eagen, and Tristan McGregor all earned Big South honors for their performances throughout the first week of the 2024 baseball season. Dragoo was awarded with Player of the Week, Eagen was named Starting Pitcher of the Week, and McGregor earned Freshman of the Week.
Tristan McGregor earned his second Big South Freshman of the Week award on March 4 following his efforts against St. Bonaventure.
Daniel Eagen was named Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week after his performance in Presbyterian's 6-2 victory over Gardner-Webb on March 28. He pitched for 5.0 innings while throwing 11 strikeouts and holding batters to no runs and just one hit.
Joel Dragoo was named Big South Player of the Week for the second time this season on April 8 after his performance in Presbyterian's conference sweep over the Radford Highlanders.
Daniel Eagen went back to back weeks with the Starting Pitcher of the Week title after tailing a new career-best of 14 strikeouts in PC's first win over the Highlanders.
- Eagen made history the following week, being the first player in program history to earn three consecutive and four total Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week Accolades.
 
OPENING SERIES SWEEP
The Blue Hose swept their season opening four game series against the St. Peter's Peacocks. PC's home opener was on Friday, February 16 where they beat the Peacocks 10-2. The following day, the series continued with a double header containing two seven inning games. In the first game the Blue Hose won 16-6 before winning game number two 16-1. The final game of the series was played on that Sunday where Presby won 16-3.
 
2024 PRESEASON HONORS
- Infielder Brody Fahr and RHP Tanner Smith were named to the league's preseason all-conference team as selected by the league's coaches.
- After his performance last season, Fahr was named to the second-team all-conference as an infielder where he capped off one of the best seasons in the Blue Hose DI program history.
- Smith earned an honorable mention award from the coaches around the league for his efforts last season.
- Smith was also named to the NCBWA Preseason Stopper of the Year Watchlist.
Daniel Eagen is the No. 1 Big South top prospect for the 2024 draft.
 
NEWCOMERS JOIN THE BLUE HOSE FAMILY
- Head Coach Elton Pollock was busy in the offseason with the addition of 15 new faces to the Blue Hose family.

A LOOK AT THE 2024 SLATE
- Presbyterian has contests at Wofford (April 16) and High Point (April 19-21).
- PC will travel to Charleston, S.C. for a trio of games against Charleston Southern from May 3-5, before returning home for a game against Wofford on May 7.
- The Blue Hose will play against the Citadel in a three-game series, starting in Clinton on May 10-11 and then moving to Charleston, S.C. for the final game on May 12.
- The final road match of the regular season will be on May 14 against Western Carolina followed by the final home series against UNC Asheville from May 16-18.
- The 2024 Big South Baseball Tournament will be played at Truist Point in High Point, N.C. The four-team tournament will determine the Big South's automatic bid recipient to the NCAA Championship which will be held Thursday-Saturday, May 22-26.
