PC Hosts Georgia State for Midweek Duel

ABOUT THE BLUE HOSE
- PC has tallied a 19-21 record so far this season with wins over St. Peter's (x4), St. Joseph's, St. Bonaventure (x2), Jackson State, Memphis, Longwood (x2), Gardner-Webb (x2), Radford (x3), and Winthrop (x3).
- The team has recorded a .250 batting average and a 5.39 ERA.
Joel Dragoo leads the Blue Hose offense with a .386 batting average over his 140 at bats so far this season. He has tallied 54 hits, 36 runs, 46 RBIs, and a .743 slugging percentage (16 doubles, two triples, and 10 home runs).
Brody Fahr plays a key role for the Blue Hose as well. He has put up a .343 batting average over his 137 at bats while earning 42 runs, 47 hits, 30 RBIs, and a .511 slugging percentage (11 doubles, three triples, and two home runs).
- RHP Daniel Eagen leads the team with his impressive 80 strikeouts and a 2.72 ERA. Over his 46.1 innings on the mound, he has also tallied a 4-1 record and a 0.97 WHIP, while holding opponents to a .176 batting average.
- LHP Charlie McDaniel  has recorded a 2.90 ERA over his 62.0 innings pitched. He has also tallied 62 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .225 batting average.
 
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
- Georgia State enters the week with a 20-19 record with series sweeps over Western Carolina and South Alabama.
- The team has recorded a .284 batting average and a 6.46 ERA over their 39 competitions this season.
- Senior infielder Will Mize leads the team offensively with his .341 batting average over 170 at bats. He has also tallied 58 hits, 35 runs, 40 RBIs, 13 doubles, and nine home runs.
- Georgia State is set to play a game against the Alabama State Hornets on Tuesday before heading to Clinton the next day.
- The Panthers are under the direction of head coach Brad Stromdahl.
 
PRESBYTERIAN – GEORGIA STATE SERIES
Wednesday will mark the 11th time that these two teams will face off since Presbyterian joined Division I in 2008. Last season, the Blue Hose hosted the Panthers for a three-game series where PC won the first game 9-8 before Georgia State clinched the series with wins in the second two games. Georgia State leads the all-time series between the two teams 7-4.
 
BIG SOUTH WEEKLY AWARDS
- The Presbyterian College Blue Hose baseball player's Joel DragooDaniel Eagen, and Tristan McGregor all earned Big South honors for their performances throughout the first week of the 2024 baseball season. Dragoo was awarded with Player of the Week, Eagen was named Starting Pitcher of the Week, and McGregor earned Freshman of the Week.
Tristan McGregor earned his second Big South Freshman of the Week award on March 4 following his efforts against St. Bonaventure.
Daniel Eagen was named Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week after his performance in Presbyterian's 6-2 victory over Gardner-Webb on March 28. He pitched for 5.0 innings while throwing 11 strikeouts and holding batters to no runs and just one hit.
Joel Dragoo was named Big South Player of the Week for the second time this season on April 8 after his performance in Presbyterian's conference sweep over the Radford Highlanders.
Daniel Eagen went back to back weeks with the Starting Pitcher of the Week title after tailing a new career-best of 14 strikeouts in PC's first win over the Highlanders.
- Eagen made history the following week, being the first player in program history to earn three consecutive and four total Big South Starting Pitcher of the Week Accolades.
 
OPENING SERIES SWEEP
The Blue Hose swept their season opening four game series against the St. Peter's Peacocks. PC's home opener was on Friday, February 16 where they beat the Peacocks 10-2. The following day, the series continued with a double header containing two seven inning games. In the first game the Blue Hose won 16-6 before winning game number two 16-1. The final game of the series was played on that Sunday where Presby won 16-3.
 
2024 PRESEASON HONORS
- Infielder Brody Fahr and RHP Tanner Smith were named to the league's preseason all-conference team as selected by the league's coaches.
- After his performance last season, Fahr was named to the second-team all-conference as an infielder where he capped off one of the best seasons in the Blue Hose DI program history.
- Smith earned an honorable mention award from the coaches around the league for his efforts last season.
- Smith was also named to the NCBWA Preseason Stopper of the Year Watchlist.
Daniel Eagen is the No. 1 Big South top prospect for the 2024 draft.
 
NEWCOMERS JOIN THE BLUE HOSE FAMILY
- Head Coach Elton Pollock was busy in the offseason with the addition of 15 new faces to the Blue Hose family.

A LOOK AT THE 2024 SLATE
- PC will travel to Charleston, S.C. for a trio of games against Charleston Southern from May 3-5, before returning home for a game against Wofford on May 7.
- The Blue Hose will play against the Citadel in a three-game series, starting in Clinton on May 10-11 and then moving to Charleston, S.C. for the final game on May 12.
- The final road match of the regular season will be on May 14 against Western Carolina followed by the final home series against UNC Asheville from May 16-18.
- The 2024 Big South Baseball Tournament will be played at Truist Point in High Point, N.C. The four-team tournament will determine the Big South's automatic bid recipient to the NCAA Championship which will be held Thursday-Saturday, May 22-26.
