PRESBYTERIAN – CHARLESTON SOUTHERN SERIES
This weekend's series will mark the 49
th, 50
th, and 51
st times that these two teams will face off since Presbyterian joined Division I in 2008. Last season, Presbyterian won the first game of the series 6-3 before clinching the series in game two with a score of 2-1. The Buccaneers won the third game of the series last season after a 10-0 shutout. Presbyterian leads the all-time series between the two teams 28-20.
A RECORD BREAKING SEASON
-
Joel Dragoo leads the team with his 12 home runs on the season. His most recent dinger against USC Upstate placed him tied for seventh in Presbyterian's record books for the most home runs in a single season.
- Dragoo is also just one double away from signing his name in the record book again. He has totaled 18 doubles so far this season and he will tie for ninth place all-time if he is able to get to 19.
- Another stat to look out for is the single season RBI records. Two PC alumni are tied for ninth place with 52 RBIs in one year, Dragoo is currently at 50 himself. We haven't seen a PC player enter this section of the record books since Weston Jackson took 55 RBIs in 2016.
-
Daniel Eagen has already taken the program's record for most strikeouts in a single game when he threw 14 punches against Radford earlier this season.
- Eagen has also put up an impressive 88 strikeouts this year which would place him third in the record books if the season were to end today. Richard Barkley holds the number one slot with his 99 strikeouts during the 2003 season.
-
Charlie McDaniel is also on track to put his name down as one of Presbyterian's most winningest pitchers of all-time. He currently holds a 6-1 record as the teams Saturday starter and needs seven wins to tie the single season record. Eight wins would place him tied for second, while 10 would tie for first place.
MCDANIEL ALL THE TIME
Charlie McDaniel has excelled as a Saturday pitcher this season, significantly enhancing his career statistics as a four-year starter for PC. His recent start marked his 52nd appearance on the mound for the Blue Hose, a milestone that places him on par with the record for the most starts ever by a pitcher at Presbyterian College. The next time that he takes the mound will not only break this record but also solidify his legacy within the program's history.
