PRESBYTERIAN – CHARLESTON SOUTHERN SERIES
This weekend will mark the 52
nd time that these two teams will face off since Presbyterian joined Division I in 2008. Earlier in the year, the Blue Hose swept the Buccaneers in their three-game series on the road. PC leads the all-time series between the two teams 31-20.
A RECORD-BREAKING SEASON
- The Blue Hose clinched the Big South regular season title for the first time in program history after their sweep against UNC Asheville to close out the regular season.
-
Joel Dragoo leads the team with his 17 home runs on the season. His pair of dingers against Wofford put him at the top of the program's Division I leaderboards for most homers in a single season. He is also one homer away from tying the school's all-time record which is held by Kevin White who hit 18 in 2002.
- Dragoo also broke the single season DI RBI record this season. He is currently at 65 RBIs which would also place him third in the all-time record books. Kevin White has held this record since the 2002 season when he brought in 72 runners.
- Additionally, Dragoo has drawn 42 walks this year which surpassed the previous Division I record of 36 held by Nick Guimbarda in the 2019 season. Dragoo is ranked second in the all-time records only behind Albert Mitchell who drew 47 walks back in 1995.
- Dragoo has also hit seven sacrifice flies this season which tied the Division I single season record. He needs one more to hold the title alone.
-
Daniel Eagen has already taken the program's record for most strikeouts in a single game when he threw 14 punches against Radford earlier this season. He has also put up an impressive 112 strikeouts this year which will make him the all-time record holder for single season strikeouts after he passed Richard Barkley's record from the 2003 season with 99 K's.
MCDANIEL ALL THE TIME
Charlie McDaniel has excelled as a Saturday pitcher this season, significantly enhancing his career statistics as a four-year starter for PC. His start against Charleston Southern marked his 53rd appearance on the mound for the Blue Hose, a milestone that gave him the record for the most starts ever by a pitcher at Presbyterian College. McDaniel will continue to extend that record as we watch him play throughout the rest of the 2024 season.
