CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Daniel Eagen of the Presbyterian College Blue Hose baseball team has once again been selected as the Big South Conference's Starting Pitcher of the Week. He earned this recognition after a stellar performance on the mound during Presbyterian's series-opening victory against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers. This marks Eagen's fifth time receiving this accolade during the current season, highlighting his consistent excellence in pitching. Additionally, this award contributes to the team's impressive total of 10 Big South weekly awards.
 
Last Friday, Eagen took the mound and played a pivotal role in guiding the Blue Hose to a commanding 14-4 conference triumph against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers. The North Carolina native dominated over the game's first 5.0 innings, striking out eight batters and conceding only four hits. Eagen's exceptional performance led to him retiring after the fifth inning, with Presbyterian commanding an 8-0 lead, thereby securing his fifth win of the season.
 
 
 
This year, Eagan has put up some impressive numbers. In his 11 appearances, he has logged a total of 56.1 innings on the mound. His 5-1 record also underscores his pivotal role in enhancing the Blue Hose defense. Eagen is nationally ranked for both his 2.72 ERA and his 96 strikeouts this season, highlighting his exceptional skill set. Additionally, he leads the Big South Conference in these categories, along with allowing the fewest hits (38) and holding opposing batters to a .187 batting average.
