CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's golf team competed in the Oyster Shuck Match Play on Feb. 9-10 at Charleston Municipal Golf Course to open its 2026 spring season.
PC played two matches on Monday, suffering defeats to Youngstown State and Radford. However, the Blue Hose bounced back on Tuesday morning with a resounding 4-1 win over The Citadel. PC completed the tournament in a tie for fifth place out of eight total teams. Sloane Spessard finished the Match Play with an undefeated 2-0-1 singles record in three matches for PC. Maddie Peake and Addy Parker also recorded singles wins for the Blue Hose.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The Oyster Shuck Match Play event featured an eight-team tournament match play in a bracket-style format with all rounds counting and the winning team in each head-to-head match advancing.
DAY ONE MORNING RECAP
The Blue Hose suffered a 4-1 defeat in their opening match of the day against Youngstown State. Sloane Spessard was the highlight of the morning session for PC, earning a 2 & 1 victory over Valentina Pena Anaya. Spessard was one down leaving the fourth hole but made two birdies and seven pars the rest of her round to take home PC's lone victory over the Penguins.

DAY ONE AFTERNOON RECAP
The Blue Hose closed out the day with another 4-1 defeat, this time at the hands of Radford. The Highlanders won the first three matches of the afternoon before halving the final two. Maddie Peake trailed for 13 holes against Grace Addison but was clutch down the stretch, tying the match with two pars on her last two holes. Sloane Spessard carded two more birdies in her round en route to halving her match with Mckenzie Weddle. She finished the day with an undefeated 1-0-1 record.

DAY TWO MORNING RECAP
Presbyterian responded emphatically on Tuesday, winning three of five matches against The Citadel to end the tournament on a high note. Addy Parker picked up her first victory of the tournament, dominating en route to a 6 & 5 victory. Maddie Peake also picked up her first win, recording a commanding wire-to-wire 6 & 4 win. Sloane Spessard got her second victory in as many days, coming back from an early deficit to win 6 & 4.
