PC Alum Charlie McDaniel Named Northwest League Pitcher Of The Month

CLINTON, S.C. – Former Presbyterian College pitcher Charlie McDaniel has been named Northwest League Pitcher of the Month in honors announced last week on May 5 by Minor League Baseball.

McDaniel had an outstanding month of April on the mound for the Eugene Emeralds, the High-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.

In April, McDaniel boasted an impressive 1.10 ERA in four starts on the hill for the Emeralds. He posted 18 strikeouts while only walking three across 16.1 innings of work.

McDaniel played for the Blue Hose from 2021-24, making 56 career collegiate starts while tossing a total of 316 innings. He helped lead Presbyterian to its first Big South Championship in program history in 2021, earning All-Tournament Team honors.

He helped guide PC to its first Big South regular season title to finish his collegiate career in 2024. He was named to the All-Big South First Team that year while compiling the best season of his Blue Hose career. He put together a 3.80 ERA in 15 starts, recording 86 strikeouts in 92.1 innings pitched (all career bests).

One of the most accomplished pitchers in program history, McDaniel is the PC Division I era leader in games started. He is second in the DI era in innings pitched, wins (22), and strikeouts (241). His 56 career starts on the mound are the fifth most in Big South history.
