DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team scored eight runs in the first three innings to lift the Blue Hose over the Davidson Wildcats for Tuesday night win on the road, 9-4.

PC moves to 19-26 overall with the win and Davidson falls to 18-26.

The result extends PC's Division I-era best win total and ties Head Coach Elton Pollock's highest single-season win count, previously set in 2006. The Blue Hose also snap a 15-game losing streak.

Brad Zebedis (Rock Hill, S.C.) went 3-for-4 on the day and scored two runs. Zebedis also drove in a team-high two runs batted in, as did Kenny Bryant (Goose Creek, S.C.).

Starting pitcher Bud Jeter (Columbia, S.C.) earned his fifth win of the season to move to a team-best 5-5. Jeter allowed six hits and three runs in five and one-third innings while striking out six. The junior entered the game tied for 10^th in wins among Big South Conference pitchers.

Davidson's starting pitcher Dwayne Mooney took the loss for the Wildcats.

Shortstop Andrew Williams (Augusta, Ga.) made several stellar plays in the field, including snagging a line-drive to end the sixth inning with the bases loaded.

The Blue Hose raced to a fast start, using four hits and batting through the order to hang five runs on Davidson in the game's opening inning.

Mack Hite (Abbeville, S.C.) kick-started the offense by knocking a single to shallow left and moved over after Mooney plunked Zebedis on an 0-2 pitch that sent the freshman catcher to first base. Tony Micklon (Sumter, S.C.) then delivered by lining an offering past the outstretched glove of Davidson's third baseman for an RBI single that put PC ahead early, 1-0.

Bryant delivered as the next batter, smacking a double to right center that brought Zebedis and Micklon home and gave the visiting side a three-run lead.

Another hit batter put Brandon Paul (Augusta, Ga.) on the basepaths and Gabe Grammer (Irmo, S.C.) kept the run going, lining a single to centerfield for another PC run on one of Grammer's two hits. A wild pitch moved the runners over to second and third.

Tyler Hill (Goose Creek, S.C.) brought Paul home on an RBI groundout and a flyout ended the frame, but not after PC earned a five-run lead.

The Blue Hose loaded the bases in the second to knock Mooney out of the ballgame but could not add a run to the 5-0 score.

In the third, Davidson mistakes and timely PC hitting extended the Blue Hose lead. A Grammer single and two hit batters loaded the bases again, this time for Zebedis. After a balk plated Grammer, Zebedis ripped a single to center to score two more and give the Blue Hose an 8-0 advantage.

PC did not find a hit in the fourth for the first time in the game after Davidson sent its ace lefthander Chris Lamb to the mound to begin the frame. Lamb pitched two perfect innings for the Wildcats.

Jeter surrendered his first run of the game on Davidson's third hit, a solo home run to left field from second baseman James Cerbie in the bottom of the fourth. The run made the score 8-1 in favor of PC.

The Blue Hose struck again in the sixth. Zebedis collected his third hit of the game on a double and Micklon beat out an infield single before an error allowed Zebedis to score and send Micklon to second. A double play ended the frame but PC restored its eight-run lead, 9-1.

Jeter found himself in a jam in the bottom of the sixth, loading the bases before walking in a run with one out. Nick Ferguson (Lancaster, S.C.) relieved Jeter and allowed one run on a sacrifice fly but secured two outs to keep a six-run lead intact at 9-3.

Davidson loaded the bases in the eighth with nobody out and the Blue Hose called on Stewart Curry (Rock Hill, S.C.) to enter in relief. After falling behind in the count 2-0, Curry threw three straight strikes to get  the first out and followed up with a 5-3 double play to get out of the inning unscathed.

The Wildcats tagged Curry for one run in the ninth and Chandler Knox (Columbia, S.C.) took the mound as a steady rain began to fall. Knox promptly struck out the side to finish off the win, 9-4.

The Blue Hose return to Clinton this weekend for their final home series of 2011. PC takes on Winthrop in a three-game series that begins on Friday at 3 p.m. and will feature a Senior Day ceremony prior to Saturday's game at 2 p.m.
