PC Volleyball Earns 3-1 Win over Coastal Carolina

Four players posted double-digit kills, including Presley Mabrey who had 16 for the second match in a row, to lead the Presbyterian College volleyball team to the 3-1 win over Coastal Carolina in action this afternoon at Templeton Center in Clinton, S.C.  PC won by scores of 25-11, 22-25, 25-20 and 25-23.

PC took over sole possession of second place in the Big South with an 11-15 overall mark and a 8-3 record in the league.  CCU dropped to 9-13, 7-4.

Following Mabrey and her 16 kills was Rachel Hall, Allison Brown and Andrea Barman who all had 12 each.  Barman posted a .632 hitting percentage after recording 19 attack attempts and no errors.  Ashtin Frank came away with 50 assists and a career-high four service aces, while Mary Trimpe had 30 digs to pace the Blue Hose.

As a team, PC recorded 58 kills and just 19 errors for a .289 hitting percentage.   The Blue Hose had 10 blocks with Hall leading the way with four block assists and one solo block.

Coastal Carolina was led by Meghan Laffin and Gabriella Horvath who each had 13 kills.  They were followed by Eszter Nagy with 11 on the night.  Lauren Alejo had 39 assists and Jenna Orner came away with 15 digs.

The Chanticleers recorded 47 kills and 20 errors for a .179 hitting percentage.  They had four blocks with Kindra Bailey knocking back four assisted blocks to pace the team.

After a lopsided 25-11 win in a game one that saw PC hit .556 with 17 kills and just two errors, the remaining games were hard fought with a total of 22 lead ties and six lead changes.

Down 23-20 in game four, Coastal Carolina fought back with a Horbath and Nagy kill and a PC attack error to tie the game at 23-23.  PC used a Brown kill and a Barman Block to stop the rally and take the 25-23 game four and match win.

PC travels to UNC Asheville Friday, Nov. 2, for a 7 p.m. match, before heading to Gardner Webb Saturday for a 5 p.m. match.
