CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (5-10) hosts its first three-game series of the year when the New Jersey Institute of Technology Highlanders arrive in Clinton for a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. The Blue Hose saw their four-game win streak snapped on Thursday night when a comeback bid against Wofford fell short by one run, 5-4.
This weekend's series marks the first time PC has played NJIT in the Division I era. In PC's first series at home last season, the Blue Hose went 3-0 with a trio of wins over Navy.
The Blue Hose will likely start Bud Jeter, Chandler Knox and Chad Sanders over the weekend. Jeter and Knox have started three games this season, all against Georgia, Mercer and Ohio, while Sanders has started two and appeared twice out of the bullpen.
NJIT enters this weekend with a 4-2 record and last played a pair of games on March 4. The Highlanders opened their season by taking two of three games from recent PC opponent NC Central. NJIT then fell against Delaware State and recovered with two straight wins. James D'Aloia leads teh team with a. 500 average and 11 RBI.
Kenny Bryant leads the team with three home runs, all coming in the last three games. Bryant lifted a ball over the right field fence in the eighth inning against Wofford on Thursday for his third straight following two home runs in two games at NC Central. The senior slugger ranks second among all active players with 19 career home runs, while Tony Micklon leads the pack with 25. Gabe Grammer and Brad Zebedis check in in a tie for third, with 13.
