PC improves to 23-29 on the year while Duke falls to 19-33.

Brad Zebedis (Rock Hill, S.C.) led the Blue Hose with a 3-for-5 effort. Jay Lizanich (Greer, S.C.) picked up two sacrifice RBI while Gabe Grammer (Irmo, S.C.) picked up a sacrifice fly as well.

Buck Mosteller (Woodruff, S.C.) made his first start of the season and earned the win, going six and one-third innings while allowing two runs (one earned) while striking out three. Michael Ricchi (McKinney, Texas) went two and two-thirds to pick up the save, holding the Blue Devils to only one hit.

The Blue Hose outhit the Blue Devils, nine to seven, and tallied runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings.

Mike Rosenfeld and Mark Lumpa each posted two hits for Duke.

Duke took a quick 1-0 lead with a run in the first inning. A leadoff walk and passed ball put Jeff Kremer in scoring position before the Blue Devil advanced on a sac bunt and scored an unearned run on a groundout.

PC manufactured a run to tie the game in the top of the third. Andrew Williams (Augusta, Ga.) drew a full-count walk to kick off the frame and took third on a Billy Motroni (Goose Creek, S.C.) sacrifice bunt. Grammer brought Williams home on a sacrifice fly to right field that pulled the Blue Hose even, 1-1.

The home side threatened in the bottom of the inning by loading the bases with two outs, but Mosteller escaped unscathed by getting Jordan Betts to chase strike three.

PC took advantage of its defensive play, scoring in the top of the next inning on another sacrifice fly. Nate Chong (Duluth, Ga.) turned a leadoff single into a run thanks to a Robby Swab (Kernersville, N.C.) and a Lizanich sacrifice fly.

Duke tied the game with an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth but the Blue Hose answered in the top of the sixth. The Chong-Swab-Lizanich connection struck again as a pair of singles set up Lizanich for an RBI bunt that allowed Chong to cross home plate and put PC ahead, 3-2.

Ricchi entered the game in the seventh and shut down the Blue Devils en route to the save.

PC wraps up the season this week with a three-game series at Campbell that begins on Thursday evening at 6 p.m.
