CLEVELAND, Ga. – Grabbing back-to-back dual victories for the first time in the brief history of the program, the Presbyterian College men's wrestling team stayed perfect across three meetings against Truett McConnell on Friday night with a 41-0 decimation over the Bears. All 10 Blue Hose competitors ended regulation with their hands raised in the air, emerging victorious via shutout for the first time since January 2020, which coincidentally equals a 44-0 win that was obtained over TMU during the program's inaugural campaign.
Team director
Mark Cody and co. enjoyed a litany of highlights over the course of the blowout win, among them a pair of technical falls from
Dominic Chavez and
Jacob Brasseur (the former becoming the junior's first win of the semester after suffering an injury nearly one month back). Redshirt-junior
Cordel Duhart moved to 2-0 personally with a major decision triumph in the 184-lb. grapple, while second-year 197-pounder
Malcolm Wiley cruised to his sixth straight win in similar fashion by a 10-2 difference later in the evening.
Junior
Michael Ramirez joined Chavez by notching his first W (via pinfall) since appearing in the Princeton Open three and a half weeks ago, a feat that 133-pounder
Khalid Brinkley equaled by MD during the early stages of the Blue Hose onslaught. Elsewhere,
William Leonard and newbie
Reed Douglass assembled their second straight wins after doing the same in PC's last meeting at Queens (an equally-impressive 37-6 shellacking).
Presbyterian's dominance over the Bears extended beyond the standard 10 grapples on Friday, with five additional exhibition bouts all tilting towards the visitors' favor.
Trenton Donahue,
Tyler Chittum,
David Bertrand,
Brandon Jacoby, and
Zach Wells continued to pour on the positives for the blue and white once the final result was already cemented, collecting two more techs, two extra pins, and another major decision for good measure.
Racing out of the gates for a 23-0 advantage at the meet's halfway point, the Blue Hose never let their foot off the gas on their way to a 2-1 record in head-to-head duals, adding up their three all-time wins against the Bears to an astounding collective margin of 122-7. Truett McConnell's defeat registers as the second outing in a row where the Appalachian Athletic Conference representative has been held to zero on the final scoreboard.

UP NEXT
Boosting their 2022 overall win total to 54, the Blue Hose will look to stay hot in their next dual affair on the calendar 14 days from now, traveling to Davidson, North Carolina to battle the Wildcats on Dec. 16. The action will begin at approximately 7:00 from Baker Sports Complex as PC sets their sights on a potential third victory in a row.
Davidson will participate in the Patriot Open – hosted by George Mason in Virginia – at the tail end of this weekend, currently at 0-2 in dual events with lopsided losses to Michigan State (a mutual opponent of the Blue Hose) and Lock Haven. On the same day that Cody's group heads to the Tar Heel State, the Wildcats will have already competed against Queens two hours prior, another shared adversary that PC bested two weeks back in Charlotte.
