Leeman Named Big South Player of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. – Presbyterian College senior Jessica Leeman was named the Big South Women's Tennis Player of the Week, for the week of Jan. 24-31, the league announced on Wednesday.

Paired with senior Beth Lacey the duo got the Blue Hose on the board early as they won 6-1 last Monday against Lander in doubles play that PC eventually went onto win. Leeman won 6-3, 6-3 in No. 1 singles as well against the Bearcats.

In Saturday's match against Belmont Abbey, the senior earned a 6-2 doubles win at the No. 3 spot before a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles that gave PC a 3-0 edge at the time en route to a 7-0 victory.

She is currently 2-2 in both singles and doubles play throughout the early 2022 season.

It's the first weekly honor from the Big South for Presbyterian since last spring when freshman Alexa Wilson was named freshman of the week last March. Leeman is the program's first league player of the week honoree since Feb. 2019 when Beth Taylor took home the honor.

The Blue Hose return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a trip to Wilmington to battle UNC Wilmington on tap.
