Blue Hose Welcome in Eagles for Three-Game Set

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College Baseball team welcomes in Winthrop for a three-game weekend set beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. from the PC Baseball Complex. Saturday's game is a 3 p.m. first pitch with senior day occurring prior to first pitch as Sunday's finale will start at 1 p.m… Friday and Sunday's games will be shown on ESPN+ this weekend.

About the Blue Hose
• The Presbyterian College baseball team battled in its longest game of the 2022 season against #24 Wofford before dropping an 8-7 decision in 11 innings to the visiting Terriers at the PC Baseball Complex. Sophomore Noah Lebron led the Blue Hose on Tuesday with three hits.
 
Series History
• Winthrop holds a slim 19-17 edge on PC in the all-time series during Presbyterian's DI era.
• PC took two-of-three from the Eagles last season led by Jay Wetherington going 7-of-10 with two doubles, two triples and a homer with five RBIs.
 
Blue Hose Leaders
Eric Toth enters the weekend tied for fourth in the league with 48 hits and is third in the Big South in runs scored with 37.
Dalton Reeves is tied for fourth in the conference with 11 doubles.
Jay Wetherington is tied for third with 15 stolen bases, Kyle Decker is tied for seventh with 12 steals. Toth ranks in a tie for ninth with 11 bases swiped.
Duncan Howard is tied for third in wins with five and is fifth in ERA at 3.18.
 
Record Chasing
Kyle Decker currently sits fifth in the DI record book with 25 career stolen basees needing just three steals to move into fourth place in the rankings.
• With his next save, Eric Toth will become the school's DI record holder for saves with his 13th of his career.
Duncan Howard and Charlie McDaniel both sit in 10th in school history in wins with eight apiece. Howard and McDaniel's next wins will move them to a tie for seventh.

Brody Fahr is pacing the Blue Hose in the last five games hitting at a .471 clip with five RBIs.
Dalton Reeves is leading PC in the last five contests with a team-high 11 RBIs. Reeves has six extra base hits in PC's last 10 games.
Eric Toth is hitting .375 (9-of-24) with a team-high eight runs scored in the last five PC contests.
Duncan Howard has only allowed seven earned runs in his 16.2 innings pitched with a 2-0 mark.
 
Scouting the Eagles
• Winthrop comes into the weekend with a 13-24 record following back-to-back midweek loses at the hands of Davidson and South Carolina.
• Joey Tepper leads the Eagles with a .310 average which incldues six doubles, three homers and 19 runs driven in.
• Dillon Morton has six doubles and a team-high seven homers. Jack Spyke has totaled a team-high 11 doubles.
• Josh Bookbinder has allowed jus six earned runs in 13.1 innings with four walks and eight strikeouts. Garrett Gainey is 4-2 with a 4.28 ERA totaling 43 strikeouts in 54.2 innings pitched.
 
Dearman Earns Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week Honors
• Following his two scoreless innings of relief on Thursday night, Presbyterian College baseball senior left-handed pitcher Clark Dearman (Milton, Ga.) has been named the Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week for games played April 12-17, as announced by the league office on Monday.
• In his lone appearance, Dearman entered in the eighth inning on Thursday night of the Blue Hose 7-5 win over Longwood. He struck out the side in the eighth before adding a punchout in the ninth en route to the Blue Hose series opening win. He needed just 26 pitches over six batters to record his third save of the 2022 season.
• He is third on the team with 13 appearances as he leads all Blue Hose relievers with a 3.63 ERA and is second on the team with three saves.
• This is the fourth Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week for Presbyterian and third in a row as Logan Ymker won the award the past two weeks. Dearman also picked up an award earlier this season.
 
Ymker Earns Second Straight Relief Pitcher of the Week Award
• Junior Logan Ymker (Sioux Falls, S.D.) has been named the Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week for games played April 4-10, as announced by the league office on Monday.
• Ymker opened the weekend at Morehead State tossing the final two innings of the Blue Hose 11-7 win over the Eagles. He sat down the first five batters he faced on Saturday before a two-out single was his lone blemish. Ymker struck out a season-high five batters to help finish off Saturday's win for the Blue Hose. He pitched in Sunday's series finale at Morehead State recording the final two outs which included his sixth strikeout of the weekend.
• Over his last six appearances, Ymker has allowed two earned runs over 9.2 innings allowing just one walk and totaling 16 strikeouts. The Sioux Falls, S.D. native is limiting batters to .147 opponents batting average as he has recorded a 1.86 earned run average in that stretch.
• Ymker is the first Big South reliever since May of 2019 to win back-to-back weekly awards when Winthrop's Colten Rendon won three straight at the end of the 2019 season.
 
Toth Named Big South Player of the Week
• Following a 7-for-13 week at the plate, Presbyterian College baseball senior Eric Toth (Mobile, Ala.) has been named the Big South Player of the Week for games played Feb. 28-Mar.6, as announced by the league office on Monday.
• He began his week with a 2-for-4 performance in a midweek defeat against Charleston. Toth opened the weekend against Bellarmine with a season-high three hits including a double and run driven in during the Blue Hose 9-3 win over Bellarmine.
• The senior continued his strong week at the plate with his second homer of the season on Saturday in a 5-0 shutout before adding an RBI double and scoring two runs in Presbyterian's 8-4 series finale win over the Knights.
• Over the four-game week, Toth slugged .923 and got on base at a .611 clip as he was able to raise his batting average from .290 up to .364.
 
Blue Hose Long Ball
• PC used the long ball last weekend in Farmville to help propel the Blue Hose to a series win over the Lancers. Dalton Reeves and Jeremiah Boyd both lead the team with four homers as both connected on homers in last weekend's series
Eric Toth and Chase Hughes each have three homers, while Jack Gorman, Chris Veach, Joel Dragoo and Ryan Ouzts have two apiece.
Brody Fahr, Jay Wetherington and Sean Klein have one apiece.
 
Blue Hose in the Minors
• Former Blue Hose pitcher Hayden Deal has began his 2022 season over the weekend tossing 10.1 innings over four appearances allowing just two earned runs with 12 strikeouts for the Mississippi Braves, the AA Affiliate of the defending champion Atlanta Braves.
• As he begins his fifth year in pro baseball in 2022, Deal is 20-15 with a 3.08 ERA as over 327.1 innings pitched he has racked up 292 strikeouts. He also added five saves in his minor league career.
