BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Transitioning from one red-hot Southern Conference obstacle to another of equal distinction less than 24 hours apart, the Presbyterian College men's wrestling team fell victim to a 36-9 result against the Fighting Camels of Campbell on Saturday afternoon, unable to prevent a CU rally that lasted five straight matches at the meet's midway point.
Making an immediate turnaround from hosting duties against Chattanooga on Friday (a decision that perhaps caught the Mocs off guard due to its back-and-forth nature involving a UTC unit yet to be beaten by a fellow league representative), the Blue Hose were perhaps caught by fatigue against Campbell this afternoon, moving the home side to 2-0 in league play in the midst of a five-date home stretch.
Presbyterian (3-9, 0-5 SoCon) teetered inconsistently after an initial 10-3 triumph by 125-pounder
Dominic Chavez that opened the day on a high note, the second straight W from the junior after grabbing a similarly-paced victory over Chattanooga the previous night. Himself overcoming injury over the course of the campaign, Chavez has moved to an even 7-7 in the lightweight group, one of PC's hottest performers as of late with four wins out of his last six tries.
Although the Fighting Camels would go on a 21-point tear that put the Blue Hose further away from their first league win of the year,
Zach Wells provided a major positive in the 174-lb. match by putting away Riley Augustine with a 4:16 pin, his second fall of the semester. By virtue of that result, the redshirt-junior now sits just one win away from becoming the sixth member of the young roster with a double-digit win count to his name.
Elsewhere in exhibition play once Campbell recorded their 11
th dual victory of the season,
Jacob Brasseur (133) and
Khalid Brinkley (141) bounced back from earlier losses to grab a pair of decisions over neutral-party competitors from Davidson by a combined clip of 9-1. PC did not tangle with the Wildcats in true dual fashion, on account of their previous December meeting.

Mark Cody's team's schedule consists of three more SoCon dates before postseason competition rears its head from Boone, N.C. in early March. The first of that trio will be the last Templeton Gym appearance of the year for PC, who will take on Gardner-Webb at 1:00 just over two weeks from now.
The February 12 Clinton matchup will denote Senior Day for Presbyterian, who will look to send their veterans off on a high note against a GW squad who grabbed two straight wins over Queens and The Citadel last weekend, having their sights set on three separate league outings before they make the visit to PC.
