CLINTON, S.C. – The #6 Presbyterian College women's wrestling team thrashed seemingly everyone in their path on Sunday afternoon in the self-hosted Blue Hose Challenge inside Templeton Gymnasium, winning eight out of the 10 individual championships that were up for grabs.

Head coach Brian Vutianitis sent 22 wrestlers to the event where almost all involved made significant noise, combining for a grand total of 56 wins and 13 finishes inside the top two.

To further illustrate PC's stranglehold on the tournament – an event that involved 10 other universities – the championship match in three different weight classes was two separate Blue Hose entrees going against each other.

Chloe Dearwester, Alyssa Mahan, Cassia Zammit, Carina Giangeruso, Paige Wehrmeister, May Cuyler, Lexi Fornshell, and Maria Aiono were the 1^st-prize winners on Presby's loaded roster.

That's not to mention Chiara Barbieri, Charlee Shuler, Lilly Lutrell, Isabella Gretzinger, and Lana Clayton who all collected silver nods too.

In two tournament appearances – also discussing the Princeton Open in New Jersey two weeks ago – a Blue Hose wrestler has had their hand raised 105 times. On Sunday, the Scotsmen amassed 24 technical falls and 20 pins.

78 percent of Presbyterian's wins in the brackets were by either pin or tech, showcasing their incredible depth and overwhelming talent levels.


 
NOTABLES
 
- With the season now 14 days old, the combination of Zammit, Dearwester, Aiono, Cuyler, and Giangeruso have a combined record of 41-2. All but five of those 41 wins have occurred by pin or TF.

- Interestingly, one of those two losses from that group came against a teammate, Paige Wehrmeister, at the Princeton tourney earlier this month. Speaking of Wehrmeister, she acquired her first gold prize since 2023 after sitting out the majority of last season due to injury.

- Cuyler, Zammit, and Dearwester have won all 24 matches that they've been a part of this fall, continuing to increase the reputation for this roster that contains eight nationally-ranked competitors.

- In only two weeks, the Blue Hose have corralled 12 first-place trophies and eight other silver trinkets. They'll collide with second-ranked King next Sunday as half of a doubleheader in Templeton, pitting the two top dogs in the Southeast Region against each other.
