TEMPE, Ariz. – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose women's tennis team has been awarded with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) 2024 Division I All-Academic Team honor. Additionally, six Blue Hose players have been recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
ITA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
To qualify as an ITA All-Academic Team, the program must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher during the 2023-2024 academic year. The Blue Hose impressively recorded a 3.38 GPA earning them the program's eighth ITA team recognition in the school's Division I era.
ITA SCHOLAR-ATHLETES
Individual student-athletes with a GPA of 3.50 or higher throughout the 2023-2024 academic year are designated as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
McKenzie Davis (4.00),
D'Estree Colalancia (3.38),
Lucianna Piedra (3.70),
Mathilde Delaney (3.95),
M.C. Dailey (3.57), and
Valentina De Sousa (3.83) have all represented Presbyterian College well with their outstanding academic achievements. This is the third time that the program has received six or more individual ITA honors.
HONORS & AWARDS
In addition to the team's ITA academic success, Davis, Delaney, Piedra, and De Sousa were all honored with spots on the All-Big South Doubles Second Team for their performance and teamwork throughout the 2023-24 season. Piedra was named Big South Player of the Week on February 21, while Davis received the same honor on both February 28 and April 3. Additionally, Davis was named to the Big South All-Academic Team for her impressive work in the classroom.
