#7 PC Heads to Marietta to Take on Lindsey Wilson & Life

MARIETTA, Ga. – The sixth straight road event for the seventh-ranked Presbyterian College women's wrestling team is all set for Wednesday evening in the Peach State, as the Blue Hose go back-to-back versus Lindsey Wilson and Life University at 4:00 and 7:00 respectively.

Head coach Brian Vutianitis sends his crew down to Georgia after posting a 5th-place finish at the NWCA National Duals Tournament last weekend (the program's highest-ever standing in that particular bracket).

The Scotsmen are riding a hot streak in dual play at the moment, ending that tourney in Iowa by knocking off #16 Sacred Heart, #11 Wartburg, and #6 Colorado Mesa. They've reached a 9-2 dual mark and have acquired 24 individual titles over the course of the campaign.

PC has already tussled with Lindsey Wilson in 2025, just 11 days ago in Alabama. Freshman 207-pounder Maria Aiono sealed a close win for the Blue Hose with an 80-second pin in the final match, leading to a 23-21 tally.

CONSOLATION CHAMPS

- Presbyterian surpassed the 30-point tab in three of their five meetings at the NWCA National Duals, bouncing back from a tight defeat at the hands of #5 McKendree to win their last three attempts.

- After churning out a 20-point W over Sacred Heart and a 17-point cruiser that got by Wartburg, the Blue Hose needed a mid-match rally to earn 5th place in a seesaw affair with Colorado Mesa, teetering to the victory despite a 9-1 deficit.

- Coach V's squadron embarked on a 12-4 scoring run that tied things up with four matches remaining. A 17-6 technical fall from 2024 freshman All-American Maddie Kubicki gave Presby their first lead of the contest, and never softened their grip from then on.

- A six-minute pin from newbie May Cuyler secured the win for the blue and garnet, the second straight year that PC ended the NWCA National Duals by eliminating CMU.

- The first wrestler in school history to win gold at the renowned Midlands Championships in Chicago just before New Year's, Cuyler has boosted her personal winning streak to 10 matches and has compiled a solo record of 18-1.

SUCCESS ALL OVER

- A horde of Blue Hose competitors are on track for All-America contention with just under two months of the season still ahead, including true freshman Chloe Dearwester who has still yet to taste defeat in her college career (19-0 record along with 10 pins).

- Carina Giangeruso, another elite PC debutant, has won 19 of her 21 matches and has defeated 10 opponents via technical fall.

- Kubicki and Cassia Zammit (two top-ten placers at last spring's National Championship tournament) have combined for a 28-5 record this season and 16 pins between them.

- Third-year star Paige Wehrmeister has rebounded eloquently from a season-ending injury in 2023-24 to earn an 18-6 mark thus far. She matches Giangeruso with 10 TF's.

- Presbyterian's three most accomplished freshmen (Cuyler, Dearwester, and Giangeruso) have achieved a cumulative record of 56-3. That's not to mention Aiono – another excellent rookie – who leads all wrestlers on the roster with 20 victories.
