CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team is ready for their Big South home opening series against the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs (11-11, Big South: 1-2) this weekend.
KIDS RUN THE BASES
After the completion of Friday's game, kids will have the opportunity to step onto
Elton Pollock Field and run the bases just like the Blue Hose.
WOMEN'S WRESTLING COACH BRIAN VUTIANITIS FIRST PITCH
The Presbyterian College women's wrestling team recently completed one of their most impressive season to date. After winning the Southeast Region Championship, the Blue Hose competed in the National Tournament in Iowa where they ranked sixth nationally, brought home six All-Americans, and 16 NWCA Scholar All-Americans. Head coach Brian Vutianitis will be joined by his team in throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
Saturday's game will feature the team's annual Breast Cancer Awarness event hosted by ZTA. Come by to show your support for the fight against Breast Cancer. Breast cancer surviver Diane Rischbieter will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.

SCOUTING THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
- Gardner-Webb has taken an 11-11 record so far this year with a 1-2 mark in league play. They opened their conference slate with a home series against UNC Asheville where GWU lost the series, but picked up a 13-6 win in game two.
- Junior infielder Ryan Kennell leads the Runnin' Bulldogs offensively with a .369 batting average, 31 hits, and three sacrifice flies. He has also taken four doubles and a pair of homers.
- Redshirt senior infielder Dale Francis Jr. is the team's leading power hitter, posting 10 home runs, four doubles, and 34 RBIs this season.
- Redshirt junior LHP Reid Bertram is projected to start on the bump for Friday's game. He leads the team with a 6.93 ERA over 24.2 innings of work. Bertram has taken 20 punches while allowing 29 hits and 19 earned runs.
- Last season, the Blue Hose won their road series against Gardner-Webb, picking up a quick two wins in the first to meetings before the Runnin' Bulldogs won game three. GWU leads the all-time series between the two teams 32-18.
- Jim Chester is in his fifth year as the head coach of the Runnin' Bulldogs.

Jacob Fields has been one of the best relief pitchers for the Blue Hose, spending 11.0 innings on the bump with a 3.27 ERA. He has amassed an impressive 13 strikeouts while holding batters to just two hits and four runs. He has also taken a 2-0 record with three saves.

Sean Hollister has also been a dominant reliver, notching 21.1 innings of work with 15 strikeouts, a 7.59 ERA, and a 2-1 record.

FIELDS' DAY
Fields played a pivotal role in the Blue Hose's 3-2 victory on Friday, shutting down the opposition over the final two innings. Entering the game in the top of the eighth with the score tied 2-2, he delivered a dominant performance, striking out five batters while allowing no hits or runs. His shutdown effort kept Le Moyne off the board, setting the stage for PC's walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth. His efforts earned his his first Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week award.
HOLY HOLLISTER
Before the start of the 2025 baseball season, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its 20th annual Preseason Stopper of the Year Watchlist, highlighting 76 of the nation's top relief pitchers. PC senior RHPÂ
Sean Hollister earned a place on the prestigious list following his standout performance last season. Hollister made 26 appearances during the 2024 season, logging 42.0 innings on the bump. He recorded 43 strikeouts, notching multiple strikeouts in 12 games. A season highlight came on April 21 against High Point, when he set a career high with five strikeouts. Hollister finished the year with a 2.79 ERA and three saves.

The senior went on to prove himself worthy of this achievement early in the 2025 season. Hollister was named Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week on March 11 after his performances in Presbyterian's wins over Wofford and No. 23 Alabama. He picked up two wins in as many appearances last week, posting a flawless ERA across 8.0 innings of work. He opened the week with 3.1 innings of relief in a 4-3 victory over Wofford, allowing four hits but no earned runs. He followed that with a dominant performance against No. 23 Alabama, tossing the final 4.2 innings while limiting the Tide to just one hit and no runs, adding two strikeouts to secure the win.
