Blue Hose Head to Morehead State for Weekend Series

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College Baseball team is set to travel to Morehead State for a three-game series with Eagles beginning on Saturday with a doubleheader set for noon. The series is set to wrap up on Sunday at 11 a.m. on ESPN+.

About the Blue Hose
• The Presbyterian College baseball team suffered a 7-1 setback against UNC Asheville in the series finale at the PC Baseball Complex on Sunday afternoon. Eric Toth and Jay Wetherington each recorded two hits to lead the Blue Hose offense on Sunday.
• Behind three early runs, the Presbyterian College baseball team withstood a late charge from UNC Asheville to earn the series win on Saturday by the score of 4-3 at the PC Baseball Complex. Duncan Howard tossed 5.1 innings allowing one earned run and totaling seven strikeouts for his fourth win of the season.
• The Presbyterian College baseball team pounded out a season-high 15 hits and scored six times in the third to take down UNC Asheville 10-1 in Big South action on Friday night at the PC Baseball Complex. Jay Wetherington totaled four RBIs and Brody Fahr led the offense with four hits.
 
Series History
• The Blue Hose and Eagles have never squared off in Presbyterian's DI era dating back to 2008.
 
Blue Hose Leaders
Jay Wetherington sits fourth in the league with 11 stolen bases as the Blue Hose outfielder is 11-of-12 so far this season. Wetherington is also tied for ninth with a team-high .337 batting average.
Dalton Reeves is tied for seventh in the conference with eight doubles.
Kyle Decker is tied for seventh in the league with nine stolen bases.
Duncan Howard is third in the league with four victories while sitting fifth in ERA with a 2.72 mark.
• In league games, Brody Fahr is third in hits with 15 thru PC's first nine conference matchups.
Eric Toth has swipped six bases in Big South play which sits second in the conference.
 
Record Chasing
• With his next save, senior Eric Toth becomes the DI career leader for saves. Toth has tallied 12 saves in his Presbyterian career including four this season.
Kyle Decker enters the weekend tied for sixth in stolen bases in his Blue Hose career with 22. He needs two more to tie for fifth in the record book.

Brody Fahr is leading the Blue Hose over his last five games with a .474 average (9-of-19) with two doubles and a .600 on-base percentage. Fahr is hitting .447 in last 10 Presbyterian games.
Jay Wetherington sits at .318 with a double and homer along with four RBIs. Dalton Reeves is hitting .308 and Eric Toth is at .300 over the last five games.
• Over his last four appearances, Logan Ymker has allowed two earned runs while walking one and striking out 10 batters.
Charlie McDaniel in his last three starts has allowed five earned runs while walking one and striking out 16 batters.
 
Scouting Morehead State
• Morehead State sits with a 12-15 record on the year following a series win over Tennessee Tech in OVC action over the weekend.
• On March 9, the Eagles were defeated by Bellarmine 10-6 which is the only common opponent between the two teams.
• Alex Jacobs leads the way for Morehead State at the plate with a .347 average which includes six doubles and a pair of homers. Nick Gooden sits at .325 with seven doubles and three homers.
• Ryley Preece leads the Eagles with nine homers and has a team-high seven stolen bases to go along with his .323 average.
• John Bakke is 1-1 over his 14 appearances this season. He has tossed 22.1 innings allowing four earned runs and striking out 31 batters.
• Jarrett Miller is 3-1 with a 3.00 ERA over 24 innings pitched. He's totaled 26 strikeouts in his team-high 18 appearances.
 
PC Swipping Bases
• The Blue Hose have totaled 37 stolen bases on the season led by Jay Wetherington with 11. Kyle Decker has added nine as he's a perfect 9-of-9.
Eric Toth is 8-of-8 following four in the Blue Hose 12-8 victory over Campbell.
• PC has had eight players record one steal led by Wetherington.
 
Toth Named Big South Player of the Week
• Following a 7-for-13 week at the plate, Presbyterian College baseball senior Eric Toth (Mobile, Ala.) has been named the Big South Player of the Week for games played Feb. 28-Mar.6, as announced by the league office on Monday.
• He began his week with a 2-for-4 performance in a midweek defeat against Charleston. Toth opened the weekend against Bellarmine with a season-high three hits including a double and run driven in during the Blue Hose 9-3 win over Bellarmine.
• The senior continued his strong week at the plate with his second homer of the season on Saturday in a 5-0 shutout before adding an RBI double and scoring two runs in Presbyterian's 8-4 series finale win over the Knights.
• Over the four-game week, Toth slugged .923 and got on base at a .611 clip as he was able to raise his batting average from .290 up to .364.
 
Dearman Earns Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week Honors
• Following his first collegiate save on Saturday, Presbyterian College baseball senior left-handed pitcher Clark Dearman (Milton, Ga.) has been named the Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 21-Feb. 27, as announced by the league office on Monday.
• Dearman began the week with 1.1 scoreless frames in the Blue Hose midweek contest against Georgia Tech. He recorded a pair of strikeouts in the outing against the Yellow Jackets allowing a hit and a walk.
• The Milton, Ga. native returned to the hill on Saturday afternoon and pitched the final two innings of the Blue Hose 5-1 game one victory against Manhattan to earn his first collegiate save.  He recorded three punchouts in the two innings against the Jaspers.
• Dearman leads the team with four appearances as he has allowed two earned runs in 5.1 innings while totaling eight strikeouts this season.
 
Blue Hose Long Ball
• The Blue Hose have totaled 17 home runs over 27 games including nine long balls in the last 10 games.
• On the year, Jeremiah Boyd and Eric Toth each have hit three homers with Chase Hughes, Dalton Reeves and Chris Veach adding two apiece.
Jack Gorman, Sean Klein, Jay Wetherington, Joel Dragoo and Ryan Ouzts each have hit one so far this season.
