CLINTON, S.C. – Gunning for an All-American nod for the second consecutive year, sophomore
May Cuyler of the sixth-ranked Presbyterian College women's wrestling team has been chosen as the Adidas / Game One PC Student-Athlete of the Week.
Cuyler was the catalyst to Presby's road victory over #9 Lehigh last Friday, collecting her eighth pin of the season in just barely over one minute to help the Blue Hose emerge with a 26-19 team decision.
That fall ensured PC's fifth win over a top-10 opponent in dual play this season. Cuyler's crew has an 18-3 dual record going into the last tournament of the regular season this weekend. The Scotsmen are 14-1 since mid-December.
ALL-AMERICAN MAY
- A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Cuyler is one of Presbyterian's fiercest wrestlers in the 160-lb. weight class. She currently ranks fifth in the country in both the NWCA and Open Mat polls with a personal record of 16-2 this winter.
- The win over Lehigh pushed her individual career record to 42-7, one of six PC competitors who landed an All-America finish at Nationals one year ago.
- With the postseason looming, Cuyler has a current winning streak of eight matches. She has not taken a loss since before Thanksgiving and has won 13 times this year by either pin or technical fall.
- Later this month, she will attempt to win the 160-lb. Southeast Region Championship for the second straight time. She posted a 26-5 mark as a true freshman last year and won a very impressive five tournament titles.
GAME ONE
- The Presbyterian College athletic department partnered with Game One – an official team dealer for Adidas – on a multi-year apparel agreement in November of 2022. PC's partnership with Adidas began in 2015 to outfit the Blue Hose athletic programs.
- Game One is among the country's largest and fastest-growing sports equipment and apparel suppliers, serving a loyal customer base of 13,000 schools and organizations in 38 states.
