CLINTON, S.C. – Senior Valentina De Sousa of the Presbyterian College women's tennis team has been named this week's Adidas/Game One PC Student-Athlete of the Week after leading the Blue Hose to a pair of victories.
 
De Sousa played an impactful role in the Blue Hose's success last week, more specifically in PC's wins over Lander and Queens.
 
In doubles action, she teamed up with Claudia Sanchez at the No. 1 position to defeat Lander's Evelyn Altmaier and Bailee Martin, 6-3. She also secured a hard-fought victory at No. 3 singles, overcoming Maria Jose Zarza 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 1-0 (8-6).
 
Against Queens, De Sousa partnered with McKenzie Davis at No. 1 doubles, earning a 6-4 win over Lucy Hogan and Andreea Onitoiu. She followed that with a singles victory at the No. 2 spot, defeating Zoe Cvitanovic.
 
The Venezuela native also picked up a singles win at the No. 1 position against Belmont Abbey's Mackenzie McCarthy, 6-2, 6-1.



WHAT'S NEXT
De Sousa and the rest of the Blue Hose host their home opener against Coastal Carolina on Thursday, February 6 at 1:00 p.m. at the Templeton Tennis Courts.
 
Game One
In November 2022, the Presbyterian College athletic department partnered with Game One on a multi-year apparel agreement as an official team dealer for Adidas. The partnership extended the university's alliance with Adidas, which began in 2015 to outfit the Blue Hose athletic programs.
