Adidas / Game One Student-Athlete of the Week: Peyton Duncan

CLINTON, S.C. – One of the most productive pitchers in the Big South Conference and following a series where she threw a total of 12 scoreless innings in barely 24 hours, junior Peyton Duncan of the Presbyterian College softball team has been named the Adidas / Game One PC Student-Athlete of the Week.

Duncan captained the Blue Hose defense during a league series at Winthrop on Friday and Saturday, compiling 14 strikeouts and pitching back-to-back complete games. She earned the victory in the finale by a 4-3 count, her 12th individual win this year.

The North Carolinian kept Winthrop off the board entirely in all but two of her 14 innings in Rock Hill. From games one to three, she tossed nine straight scoreless frames and amassed a grand total of 257 pitches for the series.

Duncan POTW

BLUE HOSE ACE

- With 150 innings of work this spring, Duncan has started more games than any other pitcher in the Big South (16). She's thrown at least seven full innings 13 times, the fourth-most in the division.

- After striking out 39 batters as a freshman and 63 more last season, Peyton has soared to her best campaign statistically thanks to 118 K's and counting. That gives her 220 career strikeouts in a Blue Hose uniform, creeping up on the PC all-time top five.

- Opponents are batting .250 when going up against Duncan – the lowest average on Presby's roster – winning three conference contests and striking out 36 Big South batters.

- Winthrop threatened to walk-off Presbyterian in the finale by holding runners on the corners with no outs and trailing by only one, although Duncan struck out three players in a row in the 7th to end that possibility and give PC their 21st win of the semester.

LOOKING AHEAD

- Just one conference series is left for the Blue Hose and head coach David Williams, welcoming league-leader Radford for a Friday single game that precedes a Saturday two-parter.

- The series opener is tabbed for a 6:00 evening start, while the DH on Saturday begins at 1:00 PM.

GAME ONE

- The Presbyterian College athletic department partnered with Game One on a multi-year apparel agreement in November 2022 as an official team dealer for Adidas. The partnership extended the university's alliance with Adidas, which began in 2015 to outfit the Blue Hose athletic programs.

- Game One is among the country's largest and fastest-growing sports equipment and apparel suppliers, serving a loyal customers base of 13,000 schools and organizations in 38 states.
